Human Resources Specialist

USAF / ANG, Fresno, CA and Anchorage, AK 11/1989 – 01/2015

Stationed in the United States Air Force (USAF) with the 144th Fighter Wing Maintenance Group (MXG) in Fresno and the 176th Wing of the Alaska Air National Guard (ANG).

The 144th Fighter Wing of the California Air National Guard (ANG) provides combat aircraft in support of national, state and community objectives and employs more than 1,000 highly trained citizen-airmen and women. The 176th Wing, one of the largest and most active wings in the entire Alaska Air National Guard, employs more than 1,400 highly trained citizen-airmen and women.

Personnel included: pilots, navigators, mechanics, engineers, electricians, administrative support personnel, network programmers, air controllers, medical technicians, chaplains, photojournalists, firefighters and many others. Missions included: combat search and rescue, tactical and strategic airlift, air control, and rescue coordination.

Processed military enlistments:

Worked with recruiters to expedite interdepartmental transfers.

Processed 2,000 military reservists’ orders (military processing papers) per year.

Assured that prior service members were credited with proper military service dates and information.

Routed enlisted packages to certify enlistment requirements.

Upon enlistment, ensured all computer updates were accurate.

Hired and processed full-time hires:

Worked with recruiters and personnel transfers to absorb new reservists seamlessly.

Worked with the State Human Resources Office to coordinate order distribution.

Coordinated with the Finance department (travel, pay, etc) to assure accurate entitlements.

Processed new reservists through several offices to guarantee smooth transition.
