Fields of Experience

I have 25 years of engineering, design, and detailing experience in Automotive, Heavy Truck and Aerospace (product and tooling design). I am experienced with Robotics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Technical Illustration and Assembly/Manufacturing processes. I possess expert knowledge of Catia V5 3D Modeling with various PDM’s such as Smaragd, TeamCenter, SmartTeam, Enovia and VPM. Previous CAD systems used include Catia V4, PDGS, AutoCad, and Cimlink. I am experienced in applying the principles of GD&T, FD&T, FMVSS, SAE, ISO, ASME, FAA, MIL standards and Product Life Cycle Management (PLM).

Project/Senior Design Engineer-CATIA V5 / NX9.0 (Contract) May 2013 – Present

Responsibilities include complete chassis layout, design (3D solids) and detail via digital mockup (DMU), FEA analysis and release via IMS (IMACS).Priorities of which include working with suppliers and customers, vehicle testing, manufacturing assembly support, proto-type unit launches and feasibility layouts. Responsible for assembling, translating (step) and transferring through FTP (SWAN) data files to customer’s specifications for all rear engine motorhome chassis.

Senior Design Engineer-CATIA V5 (Contract) Aug 2012 – Mar 2013

Responsible for design and detailing of the aircraft cargo system for the Fed Ex - Boeing 767 program.

Assisted project engineer to comply to Boeing specifications as well as manufacturability of components,

Responsible for layout, design and detail of pneumatic air line routings for medium and heavy duty trucks utilizing CATIA V5 TU install and Electronic Harness Installation software. Assignment’s included communization of routings across several vehicle lines according to engine instead of vehicle to establish cost savings while maintaining company quality standards. Responsibilities also included assisting separate groups within company to achieve successful modifications to their respective designs.

Responsible for layout, design, detail and release through VPM of interior hard trim for Chrysler mini-van program. Assignment also included being company representative to Jeep Truck attending customer meetings to ensure communication and quality standards.

Responsible for design, detail and packaging of components and assemblies for the Climate Control Division across various Ford programs. Attended many design and problem solving courses offered including an advanced GD&T application course presented by James Meadow’s (ASME board member).

Designer-PDGS (Contract) Sep 1992 – Sep 1994

Responsible for the design and detail of foam, plastic and metal components and assemblies for Chrysler Seating environments to customer specifications. Attended GD&T course presented by Al Newman (ASME board member).

Rietberg Germany Concept Seat Trimmer (Contract) Jan 1991 – Apr 1992

Responsible for the design and fabrication of trimming concept and proto-type seats for approval of Ford Motor Company of Europe.

Plastech Engineering Rochester, MI

Designer Board (Contract) Jul 1986 – Jan 1991

Responsible for layout, design and detail of complete injection molds for automotive plastic components. Experience included rim and compression molding as well. All molds were complex, requiring slides, lifters, cams, hydraulic ejection, reverse injection, manifolds with heated sprues, accelerator/decelerator plates.
