Plastics Processing Facility

SE Great Basin

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Plant Engineering position at the Plastics Processing Facility in the SE Great Basin. I am a Mechanical Engineer for the United States Air Force whose past experiences with quality, manufacturing, and as a chemical plant facility operator will allow me to fulfill the position requirements of the plant engineer.

Currently I am working as a Landing Gear Engineer for the United States Air Force at Hill Air Force Base. I provide engineering support for the manufacturing, overhaul, supportability and maintainability of the B-52 Landing Gear. As the B-52 engineer I provide quality analysis of manufacturers’ products, conduct stress analysis for parts to be repaired, and initiating and maintaining projects that help to ensure the aircraft safety of flight and to correct issues due to quality deficiencies or performance inadequacies of Landing Gear parts.

I have also worked as a facility operator at a chemical plant for mining operations. While with Molycorp, I operated chemical processes and ensured a high quality project went out to the next process that was operated. I was familiar with the whole setup from start to finish so that I could better understand how one process affected another.

I have taken courses on corrosion and fatigue mechanics, acquisition strategies, lean enterprise concepts and risk management to help further my knowledge in the field. These courses along with the skills I have gained on the job, throughout my career, will allow me to work successfully as a Plant Engineer, in helping to ensure a high quality product is sent out to the customer at all times. I have proven these skills working as a Chemical Facility Operator for Molycorp and as the B-52 Landing Gear Engineer. Both positions provided a high quality product to be sent one of an ore that was 6/9ths pure and the other to provide safety to the airmen flying in the B-52 aircraft, respectively.

Thank you for your time and consideration for this position.

Respectfully your,

David Sanborn
