Mr. Huff served as a project manager responsible for manufacturing projects related to reverse engineering and digital laser scanning and Siemens NX CAD/CAM software. He was responsible for all reverse engineering and managed a team of designers, 3D scanning technicians and quality assurance inspectors. Spatial Integrated Systems is a reseller of the Siemens software product lines such as NX, Solid Edge and Teamcenter. Mr. Huff provided first line customer support and assistance to customers using these products and specializes in 5 axis machine tool programming using NX CAM software as well as Post Builder development and Integrated Simulation & Verification tools. His knowledge of the Siemens products and project management experience was a key factor to the success of many commercial & DOD customers in converting their existing manufacturing systems software to NX CAM. He has worked with the Unigraphics products from version 15 up through release NX 7.5.

Mr. Huff also developed the Teamcenter Engineering database for Spatial Integrated Systems (SIS) to automate the workflow of reverse engineering projects. This allowed for a distributed network of employees across the country to work on and collaborate on projects without the need to be centrally located or require travel to other locations for meetings. As part of the Teamcenter development, complete documentation of the processes was required. This documentation and development allowed SIS to get ISO9001:2000 registered in a record 4 1/2 months. The typical ISO registration period is 1-1/2 years. Further refinements and audits were completed to upgrade to ISO9001:2008 registration.

Mr. Huff also served as a Manufacturing Engineering consultant to the Anniston Army Depot, Norfolk Naval Shipyard-detachment Philadelphia, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Fleet Readiness Center-Cherry Point, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and other DOD related maintenance and repair facilities as a Manufacturing Engineering expert.

The system features a Microsoft Look And Feel with a drag & drop interface for easier user input and control. Mr. Huff also designed and enhanced a Labor entry and reporting system for electronic data input of time card information for Intergraph employees. The system supported electronic signature approvals as well as management and project reporting capabilities. The software was developed in Microsoft Access for a Client/Server system and was designed to allow multiple databases across a distributed network environment. The software was used internally by Intergraph throughout the U.S from 1994 through 2004. A similar system was developed for Hill-Rom utilizing customer requirements and specifications.

Mr. Huff served as Manager of a Software development group. Products under his development supervision included I/MLO Machine Language Output, I/DNC Distributed Numerical Control, I/DNC-DBA Distributed Numerical Control - Database Access, I/TAPE Paper Tape Punch Software, and I/BCL Binary Centerline Output for Machine Tools. All the products have been utilized in the NAVSEA and NAVAIR contracts to Intergraph from the U.S. Navy. His MLO product used by NAVSEA in 1993 and first half of 1994 resulted in a savings of $395,469 to the U.S. Navy according to estimates by the SEACOSD group of the U.S. Navy.

When Intergraph sold their CAM software to Unigraphics the Machine Language Output product was the only Intergraph product ported to run on the NX platform software. The I/MLO code was the origin of what is now the PostBuilder product in NX today. Mr. Huff was the development manager of the MLO product and wrote many of the specifications and software in the product.

Mr. Huff also managed the Custom Software Department responsible for Custom Post Processor development for customer machine tools. This included project management of over 150 software development projects for post processors per customer’s requirements for milling machines with up to five axis of simultaneous contouring, complex mill-turn machines with simultaneous four axis turning and live spindles for milling in a single machine tool. He often wrote MLO code for post processors when circumstances necessitated an additional resource. As development manager of the I/DNC product, Mr. Huff developed a product to allow network connection of machine tools in the shop to Intergraph computers. He was task to design a system modular in design to allow for current and future machine tools to be connected to the network. The system he designed and implemented consisted of simple RS-232 connections to more complex Ethernet connections of machine tools through terminal servers and Greco communication devices. This system has been successfully installed in Navy bases around the U.S. He often worked with customers and salesmen to determine connectivity requirements for installing machine tools.
