Program Director, Neuromodulation Supply Management Process Excellence 2013-2015

Led the engineering project portfolio process of 65 sustaining engineering projects, developed monthly KPI metrics/scorecard, and developed AOP and action plans to meet inventory targets.

Led 2 process improvement Kaizen events to reduce average life of projects by 15%.

Developed new project review process to prioritize projects which drove scarce resource assignment and eliminated approximately 20% of projects not having acceptable ROI.

Inventory reduced from $24m to $20m in FY15. Implemented a project to reduce double stocking at two entities reducing overall inventory $800k.

Developed a Spotfire-based dashboard to enable live review of engineering project stage due dates to ensure completion prior to supply impact. Projects due within 90 days reduced from 15 to 10 over 18 months.

Supported the Neuromodulation VP of Operations and direct reports including Puerto Rico, Swiss, and US operations. Led a direct staff of 6 and an indirect staff for 5 other manufacturing sites.

Eliminated 25% of department positions through process improvement. Hired, challenged and developed new staff with predecessor staff being placed into growth opportunities.

Lead finance support for 2 $10m-$20m (annual sales) product line business sales. Created and presented due diligence materials to prospective Buyers. One of 3 personnel negotiating contract.

Led division 5 year COGS down 25% and Inventory Turns + 50% goals by identifying and prioritizing projects within Operations. Product cost has reduced by approximately 3% annually. Inventory has remained flat in dollar terms over 5 years while supporting 6-8% business growth.

Finance Director, CRM Supply Chain and IT, Cardiac Rhythm Management sector 2004-2006

Provided inventory and cost center support to the VP of CRM Supply Chain and VP of CRM IT.

Created process to analyze division total inventory obsolescence risk profile while working with Marketing, HQ, plant Supply Chain and Finance personnel. Led project to mitigate short-dated product expiration by providing incentive to selling entities resulting in estimated $250k savings.

Simplified and streamlined FY05 AOP product cost standard setting process with coordination of all division plant sites. Includes calendar setting and assisting in forecast plant load process.

Financial support to business team divesting 2 assembly plant’s assets with over 300 employees, net book value of > $15 million and annual operating costs of > $40 million. Established a multi-year supply agreement with flat costs.

Supported 2 VP & GM staffs and the VP of Operations in all financial aspects, including setting AOPs; conducting sales, margin, and spending forecasts; and reporting actual results.

Responsible for financial support to Marketing and Research & Development groups with $15 million annual operating budget including identifying financial opportunities and needed investments and monitoring performance against stated goals.

Finance Director Cardiac Surgical Products division 1998-2000

Business unit controller for $200 million annual sales division with Medtronic’s Cardiac Surgery group.

Co-leader of team divesting dip-molding assets with over 100 employees, a net book value of $8 million and annual operating costs of $6 million. Established five-year supply agreement.

Chair of multi-functional product optimization team which deleted over 100 product codes with unacceptable sales and gross margin levels while developing a plan to sell similar and acceptable substitute products to customers.
