EXPERIENCE

AUTOGENOMICS, Inc. San Diego, CA. 10/2006-Present

Production Engineering Manager

While leading a team of manufacturing and software engineers, I helped take this small start up to its current prominent position in the molecular diagnostic industry. Most processes went from manual labor to semi or fully automated. The most critical process is the printing of microarrays. The printing devices used were replaced with new instruments, designed and built in-house, that increased throughput by eight times while improving accuracy by 90%. Yields went from <60% to >98%. This accuracy gain also allowed more flexibility of the product increasing its profitability by over 50%. Another consumable part was redesigned to reduce its cost from over six dollars to four cents, saving the company hundreds of thousands in the first year alone. Redesigned most injection molded components for cost savings and improved manufacturability. Created all equipment validation documentation for both FDA and ISO certification. Worked with non-US suppliers for injection molded components.

Other responsibilities included, but not limited to, facilities management (127,000 sq. ft.), relocation management, tenant improvements and acting liaison to building owners.
