As the Plant Manager I reported directly to the VP of Operations my duties were as followed; responsible for the managing of the plant supervision staff and 250 hourly employees. Production, Warehouse, traffic and Maintenance were my direct report. Also responsible for Training and developing Department heads and setting all training programs such as CIT (Continuous Improvement teams) BBS (Behavior Based Safety) SPC (Statistical Process control) and worked with QA Department on all GMP, Allergen and HACCP programs.

Was instrumental in us obtaining a level 2 certification on the SQF (Safe Quality Food) audit.

Improved Safety program by reducing work place accidents. This was done by implementing the BBS program (Behavior Based Safety Program. The program teaches employees to correct behavior before accident can occur. Example if an employee is cutting a bag towards their body it is a matter of time before they will eventually cut themselves. BBS teaches them to cut away making it less lightly that the will have that type of accident. Accidents were decreased from twenty-two in 2009 to six in 2013. Establish risk assessment adherence to OSHA requirements and BLS rates.

I also created plant KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) which measures the level of effectiveness of the plant in all areas. I created a series of metrics that gave every area a scorecard in order to improve daily production, quality and safety. These KPI’s helped to improve productivity by 20%. Quality holds and customer complaints were reduced due to focusing on improving on the daily score card and the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
