Objective

To procure a challenging position in a team atmosphere utilizing abilities evolved through my education and experience in the Information Technology and Management fields. Opportunities for advancement/education strongly desired.

Summary of qualifications

I have been responsible for very large scale software implementations, from inception to proof of concept pilots, to production roll out, some global in scale. I have supported business critical applications, in both terminal server/ citrix implementations as well as through more traditional software delivery methods. I have designed and built the underlying Network Operating Systems that the applications were delivered from, beginning with Netware, and moving to Microsoft, and then Citrix as the presentation layer for the applications and desktops distributed.

I have been responsible for designing, building, and supporting many types of hardware platforms from different vendors over my career, including: servers, networking components, and PC’s, and different peripherals, moving now into the virtual infrastructures, and virtual appliances.

Professional experience

02/2014 to current: Systems Made Simple, occupation; Senior Citrix Engineer- In my current role for SMS, I am a senior Citrix resource for the VA, at one of its Enterprise hosting facilities, in Austin. I manage the current XenApp infrastructure hosting both applications and desktops for different business units within the VA. 04/2011 to 09/2012: Accelera Solutions, Occupation; Senior Systems Engineer- Citrix. My responsibilities are consulting for the company’s clients in all aspects of Citrix implementations, design, installation, troubleshooting and remediation. My primary responsibilities were Citrix Server support and implementation for 4 farms initially, mixed versions of Citrix Metaframe 1.8, XP Feature Release 3, and 4.0, consolidating to one server farm and version, 4.0 in preparation for upgrading to current version of Citrix. I then designed and implemented a XenApp 5 farm, and migrated the company’s applications to this infrastructure. I designed the initial published desktop, connecting to Wyse terminals with a 2003 terminal server desktop for the business’ task worker solution. The entire new infrastructure is residing on the Xen Hypervisor, and utilizing Citrix Provisioning Server 5.1, to maintain consistent configurations of all server images. I also at this time implemented as much on the Windows 2008 x 64 platforms as could be allowed, the Web interface, Secure Gateway, Licensing Servers, and Provisoning Server components. The primary business applications were not yet certified to run on Windows 2008, so the farm remained at 2003 Server. All of the companies desktops were based on 2003 Terminal Server Citrix published desktops. I also implemented and upgraded the latest Secure Gateway, and Web Interface products. I designed and built the Disaster Recovery solution, by implementing a second zone for the Citrix farm in the company’s Phoenix data center, with automatic failover built in.
