Woolworth Limited is a big supermarket chain in Australia. The core business of Woolworth is supported by S/390 IBM based information systems. They are currently in the process of converting their information base (master and transaction records) to reflect the appropriate home state code in place of the National Code of State99. The project is being managed by Woolworth team and one component of the total project i.e. design and development of conversion programs and utilities is being done by TIL. Woolworths, has data, which contained STATE CODE ‘99’ in different forms. There is a need to convert all the data related to STATE CODE 99.This involves replicating state codes for the STATE 99 records depending on the various conversion rules provided by the client. This also involves changing the data like VENDOR CODES in the vendor structure of Woolworths, which are specific to STATE Codes. The current system is on the IBM platform using DB2 database and COBOL programming language.
