Cook and Associates, Inc. – 09/05 to present (Manager-Safety/Risk Management/Insurance/HR) Manage, contract and provide services to insurance carriers, financial institutions and commercial companies in the areas of claims adjustment, safety/risk management, human resources and complex legal/medical subject matter.

Manage five to seven employees with a focus on directing, reviewing and evaluating their job performance and work objectives.

Execute inspections, audits and evaluations of commercial properties/businesses to ensure compliance with state, federal and local guidelines. Verify and document property, rule out hazardous or unsafe conditions/ practices.

Administer employee drug/alcohol testing, conduct employee background checks, confirm compliance with state/federal laws and facilitate the transport of employees and machinery. Systematically inspect and log related property, equipment and documentation.

Guide and assist clients’ legal counsel, act on their behalf regarding related incidents/losses. Develop legal defense issues, identify witnesses/involved parties, attend hearings/mediations and settlement conferences.

Conduct training classes for corporate clients related to safety/health and risk management.

Independently investigate automotive and property commercial insurance claims. Obtain documentation, photograph and inspect loss areas, examine vehicles or property and speak with the involved parties. Submit detailed reports with recommendations and conclude based on the clients’ directives. With limited assistance from unit supervisor, review all relevant data, evaluate claims, determine coverage and compensability and negotiate within settlement authority.

Provide on call/on site safety service to clients in the maritime, trucking and construction industries as losses occur during the course of business. Review, analyze and produce documentation on related medical issues and or conditions. Arrange and conduct evaluations with medical staff and their providers.
