I was required to prepare classes ahead of time and research the music more so that I could better myself and be able to better teach my students.
At the end of August I competed and won with a group ensemble, called Ceoltóirí Coillte at the World Championships in Ireland.
I was also assisting in the assembly of a younger group that competed in the All-Ireland music competition, which also included a number of the students I taught on a regular basis. This too helped me to develop valuable leadership skills that I can apply to the workplace in the future.
Have since helped students achieve goals relating to Irish music, such as qualifying for the world title competition that takes place in August or gaining a skill that would enhance their playing.

I was responsible for arranging group events for the youth of the Murphy Roche Irish Music Club.
During my time as the Youth Officer, I was also required to sit on the Board of Directors of the Murphy Roche Irish Music Club and report on the activities and the status of youth involvement in both the school and at the organization level. I was also in charge of finding new and innovative ways at attracting new students to the organization and keeping the current youth membership involved at a high level.
In this job, I was required to represent my organization at the regional level of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann during their biannual meetings and work with the representatives of the other branches in the Midwest Region so that we could increase the level of youth membership and continue passing on the tradition of Irish music in the United States.
Winner of the 2009 award presented to the one student of the Murphy Roche Irish Music Club who has excelled during the past year and show the greatest potential at succeeding for the future. I had also placed second in an ensemble group at the All-Ireland Music competition that year.
