OBJECTIVE

To work for a company that does interior design (such as interior design firm, furniture company, window treatments OR another aspect of the design industry). This position utilizes my leadership experience and design skills as the lead designer OR co-designer on various projects. I am looking for a position as an Interior Designer, Design Consultant or Home Stager. I work well on my own as well as with a team.

SUMMARY OF SKILLS

6+ years experience as an interior designer, home stager and project manager on residential properties and corporate office strata properties.

Residential design projects include condominiums, townhouses and luxury detached homes ranging in size from 550 square feet to 6,000 square feet.

Renovation project 'budget' size average ranged from $80,000 to $200,000 scope of work.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills through conducting consultations, presentations and proposals to individual clients and corporations.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

INTERIOR DESIGN

Renovated and interior designed small to large projects (residential and corporate) for various sized properties in the city of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The majority of these design projects were located in the neighbourhoods of Dunbar, Point Grey, Kitsilano, UBC and Downtown Vancouver.

Specialize in kitchen and bathroom renovations. Designed and arranged installation of new flooring, millwork, lighting and custom carpentry and custom storage areas. Custom window coverings/draperies and upholstery for furniture.

Home Staged properties including houses, townhouses, condos and model suites for residential development neighbourhoods which helped developers, Realtors and home owners. The majority (about 85% - 8 to 9 out of every 10) of properties I staged, sold anywhere from 2 days to 6 weeks regardless of the housing market at the time of listing.

Conducted at-home design consultations and advised clients on space planning, layout of furnishings, furniture selection, color schemes, paint colors, design trends, lighting fixtures, custom window treatments, front yard, garden appeal and much more.

Sourced suppliers and selected items based on design concept/budget, purchased and arranged delivery materials for carpet, wood flooring, drapery, tiles, custom cabinetry, countertops, sinks, lighting, purchasing or renting furniture, art work and other final accessories.

Created design concept boards to convey finished project with ideas and materials to client.

Rendered design ideas for elevations using a specialist for AutoCAD drawings/elevations, while doing my own space planning using other software or hand drawings/sketches.

Wrote budget proposals and contractual agreements for scope of work on each design project.

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

Project Managed trades people and building contractors (from 2 to 12 people) and calendar.

Hired contractors for commercial office installations regarding new entryway doors, lighting, electrical, new carpet, paint and established sub-trade suppliers while in my own business with Colliers International, Accenture, Heenan Blaikie LLP and the Vancouver School Board.

Managed corporate trips, calendars and arranged meetings for CEOs, VPs and other senior staff. Set up teleconferences using Skype, scheduling meetings, and prepared a variety of documents using MS Office software while being an Executive Assistant.

MARKETING & SALES

Conducted educational seminars and presentations relating to home staging for Sutton Group West Coast Realty, Dexter and Associates, Royal Pacific Realty and other brokerage offices.

Increased new client referrals by 25% through implementing marketing plan that included consultations, designing and marketing company newsletters to optometry and optician offices, executed educational seminars to the public and follow-up surveys with past patients while at Vision Med and other marketing/administrative positions.

Co-designed the company newsletter and marketing brochure for promotional purposes to the public and optometrists while at Vision Med (Refractive Eye Surgery Company).

Initiated and obtained 100 meetings between Procurement departments of large companies (some companies included The Bay, Birks Jewelers and Guardian Industries, etc.) with Canadian and USA franchise owners of Uniglobe Travel Agencies. The objective was to obtain corporate business travel for their top executive staff. *Successful sales presentations (over 350) were arranged with these large companies that had allotments ranging from $20,000 to $7,000,000 annually for their budget regarding executive staff corporate travel.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY

Developed and prepared room layouts, marketing materials and documents using Icovia Space Planner, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. These documents included floor plans, general letters, PowerPoint presentations, company newsletters, promotional brochures, flyers, reports, agendas and minutes.

Generated renderings with AutoCAD, Icovia Space Planner (room meas. and furniture layouts) and editing photos with Photoshop.

Prepared confidential legal documents for submission to the City of Vancouver for building permits, land titles and registration.

Home Depot - Cambie & 8th - Vancouver, BC (FT) (1 yr. 3 mths)

Promoted and sold all products related to kitchen and bathroom renovation projects. Educated clients by conducting in-store weekend seminars on topics such as bathroom updates, tiling, laminate flooring installation, and lighting. Re-merchandising department as new product came in and also designed vignettes and displays.

Arranging window measurements with a specialist, designing custom window treatments/panels of double pleats, pasha pleats, choosing fabrics and hand drawings. Vancouver Home Stager /Representative - Haverhill Institute of Staging &Design March ‘08 to May ‘08

Marketed and promoted H.I.S.D. through direct drop off to houses (flyers), presentations to Real Estate Offices and through my own contacts at the time which generated 30 new homeowner clients for Haverhill. Home-Staged mainly single detached residential properties in the Lower Mainland. (I decided to start my own business as H.I.S.D. went out of business in 2008.)

Developed new business leads (350) for Uniglobe Partner Agencies and U.S. Uniglobe Franchises.
