Project Description

It is a Spiridon Implementation & Support of SAP release ECC 6.0 for SII. The implementation covers FI, SD, HR, MM, PP, CS modules

As a lead Interface consultant, I was responsible for end to end design, creation and maintenance of 600+ Interfaces. This involved architecting the process flow, setting up Standards across teams, UC4 design, Scripting on the SAP Linux server, OpenFT setup and Windows scripting to support multiple communication protocols. As an EAI/EDI team member, I helped the team with setting up interfaces in SAP PI 7.4, IDOC configuration, developing BAPIs and BADIs.

SAP PI processes

Extensive experience in development of interfaces in SAP PI 7.4, PI7.11, .

Extensive experience of PI architecture, Design, configuration, Implementation and documentation of EAI Space with specialization in SAP NetWeaver PI.

Extensive experience in all components of PI including System Landscape Directory, Integration Service Repository (data types, message types, message interfaces, message mapping, interface mapping), Integration Design and Runtime Workbench.

Excellent understanding and working experience with the XI pipeline processes including Sender Agreement, Receiver Agreement, Interface Determination, and Receiver Determination.

Migrated Sicononline SAP RFC services to SAP PI implementation. Sicononline is a set of custom webservices which allows all Siemens partners to connect to a central compliant validation. Multiple Siemens intra-companies could use one connection through PI. I implemented four different webservices PMI, SPS, DAMEX and ESPRIT.

I setup an interface to transfer SAP financial data to our external partner Trintech using managed file transfers. Trintech uses these data to facilitate financial processes. Trintech connection was made on PI to transfer and process transactional data in SAP.

I setup an interface for external European partner Freja and Nordea. I configured their settings in SAP PI.

Windows Server Infrastructure migration based on Siemens Infosec mandate

The legacy interfaces were custom solutions with erroneous designs. Analyzed and re-implemented 250+ interfaces with parameterized patterns providing the following benefits: Easy configuration, Process report generation, Standardized archiving methodology, email notifications and logging, Error handling, Auto recovery and significantly reduced ongoing maintenance costs.

Selected Globalscape EFT server with DMZ Gateway managed file transfer solution to replace legacy implementations which were no longer allowed by Infosec. With Globalscape in place, we could offer the standard services of SFTP, AS2 and Web services.

Facilitated an Active Directory cleanup by migrating the servers and service accounts to a new domain group. Implemented a new user group strategy to allow for frequent seamless service account password rotations.

Siemens Intra-company/Inter-company and External Communications

Coordinated and converted communications between SAP PI and external partners from FTP over SSL(FTPS) to SSH file transfer protocol(SFTP).

Setup communications between Siemens EDI/Biztalk team and Siemens corporate services using Fujitsu OpenFT file transfer.

Designed, implemented and supported communications for 6 Siemens SAP implementations (E1P, PC1, PAP, PPR, D35, LP2) and multiple non-SAP systems like Peoplesoft, DataWarehouse, Mozard, JD Edwards, Hyperion Essbase.

Bridged multiple communication protocols on behalf of factory users and legacy plant processes to establish communication to their partners.

Established communications with external partners like DATAMATX, Doculynx, CASS freight system, UPS, Epicore(IDX) etc.

Financial processes with partners like Orbain, Sungard, Citibank.

Automation for Point Of Sales data transfer

Facilitated the transition from an unencrypted data transfer (FTP/Email) to a secure file transfer (SFTP/AS2). This involved the setup of a secure communications infrastructure to receive point of sales data from 50+ distributors and ensured delivery of the data to the datawarehouse system for reporting purposes.

I was also the primary contact for the Distributors during the conversion process. I was given the assignment to manage the technical business process from initial setup of the user accounts to quality assurance of the secure data transfer into the Siemens data infrastructure.

The project allows for better decision making to increase revenue and provide internal sales compensation based on end customer metadata.

Timeclock communications

Facilitated 9 Siemens locations with total of 33 timeclocks for factory workers timekeeping and payroll.

End to end process handling from Timeclock configuration, FTP site setup, Getting data to SAP, Scheduling UC4 jobs to process data into SAP, extract data from SAP to send to external vendor Fieldglass for Payment.

In order to meet the new requirements from Infosec, We setup a new server based on the Siemens cert measures plans. We also restricated the connections to the server based on each clock ip.

IT Americas GlobalScape EFT Server Implementation

There was no solution available in the newly built datacenter for communication with external partners.

Picked Globalscape as a managed file transfer solution to give pre-approved, Indurstry standard communication options to customers and partners.

Presented this solution and convinced Infosec to approve.

Ultimately implemented SFTP, AS2 and Web Services.

Increased security by forcing users to change the password before first usage through globalscape web interface.

Obtained and installed signed certificates on the sites to make it trusted and requested the external IP to reflect on the Internet.

Configured SQL server 2012 for audit data.

Worked with infrastructure vendor (ATOS) to modify the firewall rules.

UC4 Job Scheduler

Designed and guided the architecture of the jobs and process flow as a lead consultant. UC4 scheduler was used as an external scheduler for SAP system

Provided visibility to UC4 activities for the end users.

Researched and troubleshoot the failure of the jobs. Discovered a decade long UC4 process design bug affecting a majority of file transfer jobs and suggested alternate solutions for it.

Forecasted and coordinated the UC4 scheduling during significant SAP Server upgrade and patch implementations.

Other activites

Automated the SAP user termination process utilizing PeopleSoft data feed. This was required to meet compliance policies, as well as to reduce SAP user licensing cost. The process involved SAP RFC development which was called from a BizTalk orchestration. Special effort was made to distribute termination records across the entire SAP landscape.

Facilitated the company’s timesheet web application(Formcentral) interfaces to connect to/from SAP. A list of open orders were transferred from SAP to Formcentral for emlployees to book time against it. Once entered and approved, the data was transferred back to SAP for payroll purposes. The payroll data then transferred to the external vendor Fieldglass through secure file transfer.

Designed and implemented an HR minimaster process using a PeopleSoft data feed to automatically update employee records in SAP. This process required Custom IDOC development, ABAP function and BizTalk Mapping using cross reference database tables.

Designed, developed and maintained “Interface Monitoring” tool with the use of ABAP Objects. This tool was used to give visibility to the business users to monitor their jobs. Email notifications, questionable status, RFC calls to Biztalk server and RFC calls to get data from SQL database were major highlights of the tool.

Took a lead to clean SoD(Segregation of Duty) conflicts for the background users job roles as per the new Siemens compliance strategy.

Implemented the RICEF document process to update the custom object repository. Later on it was adopted as a standard by the Basis team to keep the inventory of custom objects in SAP tables.
