Safety and Injury Prevention Specialist

Implemented a new and improved stretch program for California Edison employees. This involved screening over 10,000 employees on their movements to help reduce their risk for injury on the job. I took their analysis and developed individualized programs for these employees with corrective movements to help stabilize muscle groups in order to improve their body movements, thus reducing their risk for injury. If they move better, they function better and injury reduction improves.

Coordinated with multiple internal and external groups including OSHA, Legal, Human Resources, EAP, Medical, Site Services, Safety, Engineering, and Operations to involve Edison employees in the new hazard analysis process. I involved employees and helped minimize oversights to ensure a quality analysis, and get workers to "buy in" to the solutions because they were able to share ownership in their safety and health program.

Reviewed with employees Edison’s worksite's history of accidents and occupational illnesses that needed treatment, losses that required repair or replacement, and any "near misses" -- events in which an accident or loss did not occur, but could have. The facility included classrooms, laboratories, a library, and an audiovisual unit.
