Abstract

At inception of the program there were 46 Risk Management Systems (RMS) spread across the FID, Equities, and FX businesses, with annual cost overhead of ~$250 million. The aim of the Risk System Rationalization work streams is to migrate these core businesses onto strategic surviving risk systems, whilst decommissioning the legacy systems. Across the core businesses the strategic surviving systems are Primo (FID), Giraffe (Equities) & GFX Jane (FX). The rationalization of these systems will be achieved in three ways:

•RMS retired post book migration.

•RMS will have the risk function removed, but RMS remains in place for other functionality e.g. trade functionality.

•RMS will remain in-place with the current functionality but will not be used for risk management by IB (for PB, Treasury or subsidiaries use).

These rationalization approaches will result in all Intra-Day & EoD risk being managed on the strategic surviving systems, significant TCO saves across IB and simplification of the FTB risk application stack.

I am currently coordinates and manage all activities from onshore with regards to the verification & validation of the application under test. I am working on multiple service requests. I am using a wide range of technology for analysis and verification & validation of the application. These include ORACLE 10g, UNIX, HP Quality Center 10 and ALM, Excel Macro, Primo, Pure and GBB plotter. I am executing the project based on Credit Suisse's strict methodologies that dictate the implementation. I am also writing sql/plsql code for migration data verification and validation.

Regulatory IT project include Basel measurement reporting (BMR) for Basel II and Basel III. This project is based on the ETL, Data Warehouse technology. All Basel measurement reporting functionality is implemented using application called STAR (Strategic tool for Analysis and Reporting) and COMET (Capital Optimization and Management Engine Tool).

The BMR Data Mart provides automation to reduce the man hours required in producing these reports and to standardize the reports, and to further assist the Production Team in performing research to confirm RWA movements.

BMR Data Mart will now use the AXIOM tool to meet the reporting requirements for the Compliance view.

There are two different levels in Barclays Bank Organization. BBUK (Barclays Bank United Kingdom) and GRCB (Global Retail Commercial Banking) including rest of countries of the world where Barclays Bank is operating. GRCB encompasses territorial divisions where all countries are grouped.

This Testing project focus in Western Europe division which includes the following countries: Spain (BBSA), Italy, France and Portugal.

GRCB is demanding a series of KPI’s that each country should supply through a common interface.

The interface is defined by GRCB detailing fields, format and information that should be included. Depending on the country, metrics are calculated following its own criteria and taking into account its own peculiarities.

Barclays Bank GRBC has launched this project to create a common Data Warehouse for Western Europe (WEDW) including Barclaycard data for WE countries in order to take advantage from synergies generated by the countries when using common criteria and same interpretation in metrics calculation.

This project performs System Integration Testing on the Data Warehouse which provides management metrics (financial and non financial) and will be source for all the Information Systems of each entity.
