Resume of Alan Culshaw
Summary
I have personally installed/migrated/supported over 100 servers, email systems and networks around the world. I have also installed/migrated/supported well over 1000 workstations. I’ve been employed and contracted with companies and individuals for computer and computer network problems for over 25 years.
I have extensive business experience and vastly more computer knowledge and experience than the younger IT professionals. Being business experienced, I understand that people want their computer systems up and running today, not tomorrow. I am confident, that your organization would not have a problem hiring someone of my age (73), with such extensive computer and business knowledge and experience.
In December 2014, I sold my IT support client base in Panama City, Florida to a younger IT professional, retired and moved to the Orlando area, so my wife could be near her son and new grandson. Since handing over the client base to the younger IT professional, four of my former clients have contacted me and said “Please come back to Panama City, we need you”, But I can’t go back, my wife would not forgive me.
After three months of accompanying my wife to craft shops, baby shops and garden shops, I decided that retirement was not my thing, so I accepted a part-time position at Disney World where I greet the young princesses and princes as they enter the Magic Kingdom with their family. I enjoy this work and seeing the smiles on children’s faces is truly magical. However it does not satisfy my primary passion which is solving/preventing computer issues and that is accomplished by full-time IT work.
I worked in Australia for most of my life, as an independent IT support contractor. In 2002, my wife and I moved to Panama City to care for my ageing mother-law who was suffering from dementia. I set up my own IT support business called Up & Running Today. Among my many clients in Panama City, were seven Medical Practices, five Dental Practices, a Day Surgery Center, two Land Title Agencies, Panama City International Port Authority, a Charity, a Church, and a Resort complex.
