Hi red to execute the engineering and project development of Red Leafs oil shale retort technology

i n the unconventional oil sector. Executive responsible for transitioning technology from

conceptual design through FEED engineering and construction for a commercial scale Proof of

Concept of the companys technology. Project lead for the joint venture between Red Leaf and

Total, the French oil company. The project is a semi-insitue oil shale capsule sized to produce

approximately 350,000 barrels of crude oil, plus all associated hydrocarbon separation, control,

i ndependent power and storage equipment. P roject is a hybrid of surface mining, major civil

construction and oil and gas infrastructure, thus it included MSHA and PSM safety requirements.

Hi red to develop and execute international ethanol/renewable power projects, brought credibility

to facilitate acquisition of shut-down sugar mill in the Dominican Republic and drive combined

ethanol and power projects in 4 other countries.

Launched start-up activities, mobilizing management team to execute sugar cane ethanol

p roject expected to generate 80 MW of renewable power. Developed go-forward plans,

established corporate controls, and designed programs to manage environmental issues and

ensure plant safety.

Chief Operating Officer; Senior Vice P resident of Construction & Operations

As founding partner, served on executive team that grew company from inception to $250 million

i n revenue in 2 years. Provided technical and financial leadership to expedite development,

permitting, and construction of new biodiesel production facilities.

Conceived unique plant design concept for large-scale (90 million GPY) biodiesel plant,

eschewing big-name plant design groups to eliminate large royalty payments for designs

w ithout meaningful guarantees. Orchestrated plant build, delivering all milestones o n

schedule and under budget .

Successfully mobilized operation of plant, incorporating sound management practices that

helped bring it to prominence for producing h igh-quality biodiesel ra ted as some of the

best in No rth America .

Implemented r igorous safety program that proved instrumental in maintaining strong safety

record n o lost time accidents during entire tenure (more than 1600 days of operation).

Leveraging technical credibility, played key role in gaining funding for venture and key

p rojects. R aised$168 million i n capital investment for start-up, closed $50 million line of

credit during capital market crisis, and participated in closing $42 million for Guatemalan

feeder project from foreign banks.

Leading quick-hit initiatives to address critical performance areas as director, achieved 5%

i ncrease in plant availability, adding from $20 to 30 million to market value of international

assets managed.

In role as SVP of Brazilian business unit, built engineering and construction teams that added

~2200 MW of power generation over 5-year period. Overall, directed $2 billion in power project

construction, providing technical leadership that took company from 5 to 180+ staff members.

In initial role for El Paso, r ighted failing power plant construction project, implementing

corrective action plan that not only salvaged project, but also positioned El Paso as a serious

i ndependent power producer in Brazilian market able to compete successfully in

government-owned power sector.

Project H ighl ights

Fast-t racked emergency power project in Brazil, bringing 900 MW of power online in 16

months within $740 million budget, despite major hitch that required unexpected self-perform

of key pipeline build. Submitting success story to Power Magazine, plant was recognized as

one of top 12 plants in 2003.

Taking over construction/mobilization of 270 MW power project in the Amazon, shut down

slipshod construction, rebuilding it into professional venture that delivered fast-track facility

t hat met high standards of quality and safety and restored reliable power supply to city with 1+

m illion residents in just 9 months.

Negotiated and oversaw EPC build of joint-venture 480 MW combined co-generation power

p lant in Brazil that was brought online 2.5 months ahead of schedule.

Completed construction of 160 MW Wartsila diesel power plant in Brazil in less than 12

months on time and within budget with no change orders necessary.
