Role : Software Test Analyst
The ACD Network is a Train Collision prevention system invented and patented by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (a public-sector undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, Government of India). ACDs have knowledge embedded intelligence. They take inputs from GPS satellite system for position updates and network among themselves for exchanging information using their data radio modems to take decisions for timely auto-application of brakes to prevent dangerous 'collisions', thus provides a safety shield to prevent collisions of moving trains and related accidents, which can happen due to human errors.
The concept works in a network environment consisting of Loco ACD mounted in Locomotive (Engine) of trains, Guard ACD in the Guard van, Station ACD at stations, and Level Crossing (LC) Gate ACD at manned and unmanned gates. The networked system communicates one another asynchronously and in half-duplex mode through Radio Modem using CSMA/CA protocol. The position of the moving object (train) is identified using (GPS). All Mobile & stationary ACD’s are communicating with Radio modem.
Responsibilities:
Involved in Test Requirement gathering and Analysis using Functional Specification Documents
Responsible for gathering requirements from users and performing data mapping on the application and testing the application as per the specs.
Created Test Plan document that defines the test environment, phases of testing, timelines for different phases of testing, entrance and exit criteria into different phases of testing.
Maintained the Requirements Tractability Matrix (RTM)
Performed Functional, Integration Performance and Regression testing for multiple releases of the application.
Executed Automation testing using ACD simulator.
Performed Installation and un-installation testing.
Delivered different test reports using Quality Centre.
Managing the Testing related activities closely with Development Team.
Company : Kernex Micro Systems
Client : Konkan and NFR Railways INDIA Sep 2010 – Feb 2011
Role : Software Intern
TrainX is an indigenously designed Intelligent Data Acquisition System (IDAS) deployed at every Railway Station of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. This system consists of software embedded in an M- system Disk on chip and is designed to capture information about Train Arrivals and Departures, Direction of Travel, Track ID or Line on which the train has arrived on to or departed from and the Date and Time of transit. The system derives this taking the Track Circuits and Signal information and following a sequence of operation required for Train Arrivals/Departures.
This information is then passed onto a UNIX based Local Dec Alpha Server via RS-232 communication channel. Communication interface software is resident as a daemon process in the Dec Alpha Server. This software accepts data generated by the IDAS on every transit of a Train and updates its Local Database which gets subsequently updated in the Central Server. This system is currently used by KRCL for train traffic management. It helps the Controller and Station Master to decide on train movements into and out of Railway Stations. It also facilitates passengers of train arrival timings.
Responsibilities:
Participated in Design specification meetings to understand the architecture of the product
Developed modules to display the information of train arrivals and departures
Involved in writing Test Plans for each product using Project Plan document and Functional Specification documents
Written test code to do the unit and integration testing
Analysis of test data and GPS interpolation in shadow zones
Attended weekly project review meetings with Product Management team
Submitted documentation of the complete system architecture and its design using UML diagrams. Data flow execution in different scenarios
Execute SQL queries to query the data from the database and analysis.
Involved in functionality, integration testing and GUI Testing.
