CHARTER: Integrate mixed culture Quality organizations and drive Business Practices

Promoted to manage the improvement of the global Quality & Reliability organization, including Integrated Circuit Design Robustness, Engineering Laboratory Services, Supply Chain Quality, Joint Venture Manufacturing, Qualification & Reliability, Quality Systems & Quality Improvement, and Customer Support. Led and improved all global Quality Programs, including; Design Robustness, Supplier / Subcontractor, Internal Manufacturing, Qualification & Reliability, Quality Systems and Quality Improvement, and Customer Support. Managed ~ 220 manufacturing and technical professional employees in NA, EMEA, and APAC with a budgetary responsibility of ~ $16M.

Conceived and implemented Agere’s first Design Robustness activity and drove standardized design check lists, technology risk assessments, and manufacturing margin validation programs.

Led team in the implementation of OEM supplier program (including private label providers) to ensure proper customer support and protection of company brand recognition. Implemented Supply Line Engineering procedures for new product market expansion with Bluetooth solutions. Initiated Supplier Quarterly Business Review process and standardized Supplier Report Card for silicon wafer foundry and assembly & test subcontractors.

MANAGER, Engineering and Quality 1999 –2002

CHARTER: Implement processes to enable new market growth and improve customer satisfaction through Automotive Certification.

Led Customer Quality Organization supporting all Agere products and customers. Initiated Customer & Quality management of New Business Initiatives, including automotive satellite radio and hands free wireless communications.

Reduce number of unresolved customer complaints by 75% and improved cycle time to resolve complaints by 64% in fiscal 2002.

Improved customer satisfaction at targeted top 2 revenue accounts (Maxtor and Seagate) from 72% and 67% to 90% and 83% respectively.

Re-engineered complaint database and enabled the first integration of global complaint tracking.

Drove the integration of disparate Optical and Electronic product lines to utilize common Engineering Services and Customer Management resources and processes.

Led cross-functional team to eliminate phosphorus containing mold compounds that were a major reliability concern. Conversion was completed within customer schedule, without stranding any inventory or material, and without increasing product cost.

Enabled key business objectives in new market expansion. Led team to achieve Agere’s first automotive product certification enabling successful launch of Sirius Radio and Hand’s Free products aimed at automotive business. Developed and deployed Automotive Quality programs including PPAP, FMEA, and other required aspects of QS9000 (governing specification at that time).

LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES 1995 – 1999

PRODUCT MANAGER: Strategic Marketing - Video RF and Broadband Networking Integrated Circuits

CHARTER: Define market potential and required features / functions for success

Led the analysis of market potential and appropriate product line strategies for emerging Broadband Communications markets. Owned Profit and Loss and Marketing responsibilities for Digital Television, Sonet Networking, and Cable Modem / Cable Telephony products.

Successfully led cross-functional team’s product definition and initial design of OC-48 line terminator-framer and generated design wins with major Network companies.

As marketing lead, coordinated Design, Marketing, PR, Product, and Applications Engineers responsible for introducing the first integrated terrestrial receiver for High Definition TV applications. Generated design wins with Sony and Mitsubishi.

Initiated partnerships with PC industry leaders to demonstrate the use of Digital Television technology in the PC platform. Coordinated technical and Public Relations management of trade show demonstrations with Intel, Microsoft, Compaq, and Mitsubishi Electronics at Consumer Electronics and National Association of Broadcasters shows.

Introduced RF transmitter product family serving the Cable Modem and Interactive Set-Top-Box markets. Project Managed a chip set solution for Telephony over coax cable. Drove margins up from 8% to 50% when project was completed.
