Company specializes in all-natural sports drinks. Sells through natural markets, chains, vitamin stores and on-line. Manufacturing / Production Inventory Control Manager Planned, organized, directed, and controlled daily operations. Developed the strategic Supply Chain Plan for a startup company specializing in all natural sports drinks. Responsible for setting-up the entire structure for a start-up company, regulated by the FDA. Established all standard operational procedures and policies. Had oversight in creating formulation, managed outside manufacturing contractors, setup warehouse & distribution, developed distribution channels & negotiated terms, and established broker network. Performed all operational duties with full P&L responsibilities.

Result: Achieved all operations goals and objectives, sold through 6,000 cases and it was determined in December of 2014, the primary investor would no longer invest any further in the company. Indigo Labs, Inc., Oceanside, CA 2006-2012

Reported to the CEO. Planned, controlled, and directed daily operations, and ensure the plant operated under the strict guidelines of the FDA and Organic Board, and ensure all levels of staff were properly trained. . Developed and implemented strategic plans to build a factory that included R&D, manufacturing, procurement of ingredients, packaging, equipment & services, warehouse, inventory, batch processing, quality, regulatory, finance, and site design and selection. Started the manufacturing process with 6,000 sq.ft, the company grew so quickly, within 6 months moved to a 35,000 sq. ft. facility with a second fill-line. Developed strategic plans to reduce cost, inventory, and improve efficiency. Implemented Fishbowl operations system, manufacturing, and warehouse, inventory, and distribution system.

Result #1: Developed annual material and labor forecast and achieved 98% plus accuracy. Result #2: Successfully managed SKU’s, with 500% growth. Result #3: Implemented daily cycle counting program, no physical inventory, Inventory was 98% accuracy, inventory turns 15 annually, and loss factor was >1%. Result #4: Audited system parameters and achieved 100% accuracy. Result #5: Reduced industry lead-times on finish goods from 8-12 weeks to 4-6 weeks. Result #6: Sourced, negotiated & audited vendors and established alternate vendors, and negotiated cost based on best value.

Result #7: Established online reporting via customer portal that allowed customers access to information on the current status of account, included Sales order, invoices, WIP, customer owned material, and history. Result #8: Developed and Negotiated pricing and terms with all customers. Result #9: Achieved FDA compliance, cGMP Certification, and Organic Certification, and positioned the company to go after high end and international accounts. Result #10: Established Key Performance Indicators KPIs and successfully tracked performance, efficiency and utilization of the plant.

Plant was a hazardous filling facility that need to expand; Result: Suggested a solution to the company which was accepted by all state and local agencies by using a 1920’s Theater-style fire-door concept.

Participated with HR to develop a company training program to assure top-level employee development; Result #1: Successfully set-up an effective company-wide employee development program; Result #2: Established Standard Operational Procedures SOPs throughout the organization, Result #3: Created and implemented part numbers for suppliers to assure purchase inventory accuracy; Result #4: Automated the entire manufacturing floor using the latest QA techniques, Result #5: Set up a Preventative Maintenance System to reduce down-time of manufacturing equipment.

Noted that company was not using the MRPII system’s full capabilities; set up a “phantom” master planning module which worked in tandem with the existing program; Result #1: Created work-centers, labor standards, and the first master schedule where sales data was used; Result #2: Was able to generate planning reports that we could never have run before, Result #3: Management was so impressed, the phantom system was activated, and Result #4: We had a working MRP system that provided information throughout the organization, Result #5: Enhanced Materials Management planning function, inventory reduced, stock-outs minimized.

Started with the company as an employee making less than $5 an hour; Result: Learned processes in operations, the importance of quality, customer service, and getting the job done in a cost effective manner.
