To Whom It May Concern:

I am submitting my resume in an attempt to find a more challenging position than that which I now hold. I am a motivated individual with a wide range of experience and strong communication skills. Having worked in power plants, in several different departments, has given me an insight that most engineers never get. This insight helps in dealing with a wide range of craft workers and an understanding of their needs, this facilitates supervising and/or working alongside of them.

Having been the principal engineer on the upgrade of seven units over a two year span at my previous employer has only elevated my abilities to think quickly on the job to adjust to the unforeseen complications of controls upgrades. I’ve enclosed my resume, which details my skills and background, along with a list of my accomplishments. I expect that several of my strengths will be quite transferable to the Automation Engineering position I am applying for; e.g. attention to detail, the ability to work with complex technology, communications skills, self-starter. I would welcome your views on this observation, as well.

Knowing how busy you are, I would be most grateful if you could spare a few moments of your day to consider my resume for the position. I welcome the opportunity to present myself for further discussion as to my abilities and skills and how they would fit your needs.

Sincerely,

Brian M Morahan
