Twenty years of experience with a proven track record and successive increases in responsibility in the Charlotte area covering all aspects of accounting; from A/P, to A/R, complete G/L, inventory, budgeting, financial analysis and staff management. I also have extensive payroll, audit, tax, and information technology experience. Basically, I bring a hands-on, comprehensive approach to all accounting and corporate issues. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Greens of Rock Hill, LLC 2014-2015

Controller

Greens of Rock Hill is the parent company of the Riverwalk development in Rock Hill, SC. It includes retail, office, industrial, apartments, and single family homes for sale.

Responsible for all budgeting, monthly, quarterly and year end reporting for all entities including corporate; as well as all relations with third party auditors, tax preparers, and state and government agencies.

Developed and wrote policies and procedures for the organization as needed. The organization was splitting from its parent and needed entire office set up and full accounting set up on a different system, including IT system. Compass Group, NA 2011-2014 (May 2011-Feb 2012 was contract work) Eurest Accounting and Union Accounting Manager

Compass Group is a global, multi-sector food service company with their North American headquarters in Charlotte, NC. Compass Group, NA manages cafeterias throughout North America with over $11 billion in annual sales and 196,000 employees. Coordinates the ERP system (includes all accounting, inventory, and payroll) to ensure seamless reporting for over 100 offsite locations.

Full general ledger control for the IUS (InterUnit Systems) for over 100 cafeterias across North America.

Works directly with unit managers at cafeterias and corporate accounting team to integrate reporting data.

Was nominated for and completed Developing Dynamic Leadership (a three month course of intensive coursework, classes and presentations for selected management personnel that emphasized techniques for developing and leading highly-productive, motivated teams).

Extensive database and SAP experience.

Developed new strategies for training associates and resolving complex reconciliations (SWAT team, personal trainers, and mentoring for temporary employees).

Mount Vernon Asset Management 2009 – 2010

Controller and Asset Manager

MVAM is an investing arm of the Baupost Group, a hedge fund out of Boston that invests in distressed assets. Responsible for asset management and accounting for over $60 million of real estate (over 600 apartments and more than a million square feet of commercial property). Traveled to Boston to represent Charlotte office.

Responsible for all budgeting, monthly, quarterly and year end reporting for all entities including corporate; as well as all relations with third party auditors, tax preparers, and state and government agencies.

Implemented complete software change for the company (MVAM) from Quickbooks to Yardi.

Set up the web-based, global integration of all properties for consolidated reporting and off-site oversight with access to all accounting documents and financial statements available in real time via the internet.

Developed and wrote policies and procedures for the organization as needed. MVAM had experienced strong growth in the run- up to the current financial crisis and this required a buildup of infrastructure and organization.

Reviews and/or develops underwriting for all acquisitions as part of the procurement process.

Implemented a system to bill back 100% of all accounting costs to the properties which saved the managing member (MVAM) over $150,000 in costs per year.

Successfully appealed over $7,500 Charlotte-Mecklenburg utility (water) bills and received refund of appealed funds. Pinnacle Properties 2007 - 2009

Controller

Pinnacle Properties is a full-service real estate firm with services from land acquisition to development and property management.

Implemented complete software change for the company (Pinnacle) from Quickbooks to Skyline.

Directed and implemented the set up of thirty-five properties and POA’s onto Skyline through all stages of development.

Negotiated lines of credit and compliance with existing loan agreements.

Oversaw day-to-day accounting for all properties and corporate systems.

Hired and oversaw accounting staff as needed.

Lat Purser and Associates 2001 - 2007

Controller and Director of Property Management

Responsible for financial accounting and reporting functions of a full-service real estate firm with responsibility for fifty employees and approximately ten people reporting directly to the position. Member of portfolio committee from 2004 – 2007.

Responsible for all budgeting, monthly, quarterly and year end reporting for all entities including corporate; as well as all relations with third party auditors, tax preparers, and state and government agencies.

Hiring, training, and supervision of all staff associates (between 4 and 12) in accounting and reporting functions from data entry to financial statement preparation.

Transitioned the entire accounting function from three different accounting systems to one (changed from a combination of Quickbooks, Skyline, and Timberline to only Skyline).

Worked with representatives of Principal Financial to set up web-based MRI accounting for their Charlotte portfolio when they began investing with Lat Purser and Associates.

Responsible for all maintenance and updates of Skyline accounting software in conjunction with the IT staff.

Responsible for all day-to-day functions of accounting in construction, development, property services and brokerage.

Implemented a billback procedure for accounting functions that reduced staff requirements as well as bringing in $60,000 worth of savings per year.

Supervised all accounting and property services personnel. Trammell Crow Company 1999 - 2001

Senior Development Accountant (Southeastern United States) Oversaw development accounting for the nation’s largest real estate company with an area that stretched from Maryland to Florida. Prepared monthly forecasts, financial statements, and cost tracking reports for projects as well as working with tax preparers and corporate executives for year-end reports.

Shelco, Inc. 1997 - 1999

Assistant Controller

Worked with one of the largest contractors in North Carolina. Responsible for accounts receivable, billings, assistance in month-end reporting and compilations, as well as direct supervision of accounts payable function. Reported directly the CFO and worked with all project managers on cost reports for each construction job. PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP 1995 - 1997

Entrepreneurial Services Advisor. Worked as staff accountant on our entrepreneurial services team. Combined audit and tax services to provide a seamless accounting advisory function for our entrepreneurial clients in various areas of business (including industrial, real estate, and not-for-profit).
