Employee Relations Manager (Full-time Contract) September 2014 to July 2015

Correct Care Solutions, Nashville, TN

Multi-state company providing privatized healthcare for federal prisons, state correctional facilities and county jails in 39 states. Performed consulting and project management responsibilities due to acquisition of three (3) new companies. Specific projects include:

On-site on-boarding and orientation for new facilities in New Orleans, Louisiana and Rochester, New York.

Merged Human Resources policies of three (3) newly acquired companies with existing human resource policies, bringing all policies in compliance with regulatory changes in employment laws.

Worked closely with outside vendor to outsource unemployment compensation claims processing.

Implemented E-verify with FAR Clause (Integration with iCIMS)

Director of Human Resources November 2012 to May 2014

United Neighborhood Health Services, Nashville, TN

Responsible for all human resources functions for 17 primary healthcare clinics. Major Accomplishments: Researched, selected, implemented, and administered new integrated HRIS/payroll system allowing for first ever Employee Self Service system and standard and customized reports for improved operations and bottom line labor cost management. Negotiated with benefit carriers, selected new carriers achieving lower annual premiums and enhanced benefits for employees. Developed HR policies and processes accomplishing legal compliance with ADA, FMLA, etc. Moved 401k plan to new service provider with lower fees, ensuring compliance with DOL and ERISA regulations. Implemented “best practices” for recruitment and hiring. Successfully recruited Physicians and Nurse Practitioners, including employment contract negotiation and creation.

Corporate Director of Human Resources January 2005 to June 2012

The Guardian Group, Inc., Brentwood, TN

Responsible for all human resources functions for three privately owned healthcare companies operating in multiple states and experiencing rapid growth. Combined workforce of approximately 1600 employees. Major Accomplishments: Successful HR integration for multiple acquisitions including a home health care company, rehabilitation company and multiple agency take-overs. Restructured all benefit plans, resulting in increased benefits for employees and neutral cost impact. Designed and implemented first ever Section 125 plan. Restructured 401k plan and moved plan to new fund manager. Selected and implemented new HRIS system. Lead Joint Commission certification resulting in Surveyor adopting some of the HR initiatives as “best practices”. Through accident prevention and aggressive claim management achieved $100k pick-up to bottom line on workers’ compensation costs.

Responsible for all human resources functions for this “start-up” international healthcare staffing/management company. Major Accomplishments: Created and implemented human resources policies. Developed a video orientation/transition program for use by overseas offices. Facilitated relationship with hospital/client personnel to facilitate successful cultural integration of foreign recruits. In conjunction with client hospitals, resolved employee issues. Hospitals included Duke, Vanguard and Norton Healthcare systems. On-site project management in India and United Arab Emirates to recruit 360 employees for new hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Inc., Lexington, KY

Responsible for employee relations and employment for two hospitals, 675 bed system. Major Accomplishments: Managed on-site recruitment of RN’s in the Philippines and Ireland resulting in 68 nurse hires. Conducted management audits, discrimination investigations and responses to EEOC and State Civil Rights Commissions. Developed and implemented employee retention programs that reduced new hire turnover. The “Lend A Hand” program was duplicated at other CHI hospitals.
