KENNETH NUNN
SUMMARY:
** **** ****** ************ ** the Drug Retail industry. I have broad knowledge of retail with multi store Management experience. After a brief sabbatical I am interested in a new endeavor where I can be involved in people development and management again. Some strengths include Human Resources, Management Systems, Recruiting, Hiring and Training Personnel, Merchandizing, Loss Prevention, P and L Management, Shrink Control, purchasing, Customer Relationship Management, Talent development, I have also taken the liberty of some additional hypothetical questions that could be ask of me. The questions and answers follow. 1. Based on what you know about this position, how has your background prepared you to be successful in the role? I have been in Retail for 38 years, with the last 18 as a District Manager. This experience has positioned me with the tools necessary to lead teams in a multi unit setting. 2.Describe your District Manager experience. What industry was it in? What was your territory? How many stores were you responsible for? I Have been in the Drug Store retail industry my entire career. I began as a Receiving clerk and progressed through the ranks ultimately becoming a District Manager in 1997. My first District was located in Evansville, In. That District consisted of 22 stores. In 2004 I was asked to relocate to a new market area in Phoenix, Az. I managed several Districts in Phoenix/Tucson with anywhere from 18 to 23 store units. I had Pharmacist, Managers, Asst. Managers, and the store teams under my direction. I also have dealt with Federal, State, and City Govt to 25 people depending on District size. 2. Recruiting was done in two phases...Pharmacist were recruited from competitors through what we called cold calling. That was an actual visit into a Pharmacy. I have also recruited at various Pharmacy Schools where we would get students in program and get early commits to work for us upon Graduation. 3. I have used cold calling, social media, Monster, etc for recruitment of Front Store talent. I have did this alone and have used round robin approaches with HR Reps and peers to get the best talent. In my past for training I utilized one or more high caliber Managers for our initial training. I worked with those individuals to assess and determine if the trainees were capable of success. From there I utilized established competencies as well as knowledge, experience, and results to develop my talent. I also believe in using my HR Rep, LP, and high caliber Managers to assist as well. I also think it is critical to be approachable, give personal attention, and coach for success.
