25 years technical experience in corrosion, chemical and e n v i r o nmen t a l engineering in private industry plants, consulting firms, and state regulatory agencies.

Advanced experience with process, mechanical, and controls design, construction, and operation and maintenance involving aboveground storage tanks, underground storage tanks, pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, reactor systems, evaporators, stripper towers, wet and dry scrubber systems, pressure relief valves, flare systems, cooling towers, fuel systems, package boilers, thermal fluid heating systems, and loading racks.

Advanced experience with instrumentation and control of level, flow, absolute pressure, differential pressure and temperature in piping, vessels and other process equipment.

Oversaw the process, mechanical, electrical, and structural design, construction, commissioning and start-up of a used oil re-refining facility in Columbus, OH. Activities included material and energy balances, PFDs and P&IDs for front-end (fractionation and lights/wastewater removal) and back-end

(hydrotreating) processes. Worked with third party engineering firms, technology vendors, and mechanical and electrical contractors to develop equipment, instrumentation and control system/HMI specifications and construct facility on time and within budget. Participated in factory acceptance testing of integrated control system. Heavy equipment designed and installed included storage tanks, pressure vessels (reactors and separator vessels), heat exchangers, wiped film evaporators, flare system, a stripper tower, recycle gas compressors, plant air compressor, pumps, cooling tower, heat transfer fluid heater systems, and a dry scrubber system.

Developed start-up, operation, standard shutdown, and emergency shutdown procedures for front-end and back-end processes using guidance from process technology vendors. Conducted training of plant operators in procedures.

Performed engineering, installation, commissioning and start-up for plant upgrades to increase efficiency, operability, and safety of the plant, including UPS system for key plant equipment, addition of thermal oxidizer to front-end process, vapor recovery system at loading rack, tank vent system modification, front-end vacuum system modification, recycle compressor knock-out system modification, and process pump upgrades.
