Academic Project
Organization : SJMIT, Chitraduga
Project name : Finite Element Modeling& Analysis of practical airframe stiffened panel
Project Type : Analysis
Duration : 01 month
Team size : 4
Project Detail:
A stiffened panel is a generic representative structural element of an airframe structure. A
Stiffened panel is therefore considered foe analysis. it is almost impossible to completely represent
The structure with all the structural details in the finite element modeling. Nevertheless it is important to represent the necessary structural features in the finite element model to get the correct response of the structure for a given loading condition. this is were an understanding of the structural response of the multiple loads paths, multi layered & discretely connected airframe structure helps. It will be shown that the conventional method of representing the structure in FEM will lead to inappropriate stress distribution and identification of critical location. Appropriate FEM will be used to represent the detail of the stiffened panel.MSC.PATRAN will be used as a pre & post processr.MSC.NASTRAN will be used as a solver.
A comparison will be made between the different methods of global FEM and subsequent stress analysis. This will be followed by a local analysis at the rivet location to get the maximum stress at the rivet hole. Finally structural integrity evaluation is carried out through finite element anaylsis.
Key words:
Structural analysis, FEM, stiffened panel, stress distribution, structural integrity, multilayered and discretely connected structure, MSC.PATRAN, MSC.NASTRAN.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Drafting a model & meshing by using Patran
