Sr. Engineer, Equipment Execution, Voltas Limted (A TATA Enterprise) Oct 2010 - Apr 2013

Lead a cross functional team of engineers towards completion of water treatment projects across India using technologies like Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR), Reverse Osmosis (RO), Ultra Filtration (UF) and Activated Sludge Process (ASP) ($2M+).

Single point of contact with client for approval of technical data, quality plans and financial documents like bank guarantees

(BG), Letter of Credit (LC) and proforma invoice.

Designed and developed project monitoring, cost monitoring and material planning systems using MS Projects and SAP for timely delivery and improving the cost efficiency of projects.

Generated quality, erection commissioning reports and operational maintenance reports to ensure quality products are being delivered and maintained.

Initiated vendor development along with assisting them with manufacturing planning and scheduling to enable increase in the production.

PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS:

Supply and erection of 6.5million liters per day (MLD) Effluent treatment plant for a paper mill Jun 2012 – Jan 2013

Created material planning schedule, production planning schedule and sequence of manufacturing for structural component and bought out materials like motors, gear boxes etc. using MS Excel and SAP.

Launched new operating protocols and document control to ensure effective flow of information and reduction in production shutdown time.

Supply of 50m dia Clariflocculators to Larson and Tubro (ECC division) Jan 2013 – Mar 2013

Designed structural components of clariflocculator using AutoCAD Revit and the structure was analyzed using STADD for optimization based on stresses induced.

Negotiated with vendors and created purchase orders, memorandum of understanding and contract documents using SAP.

Reduced cost of rework by 2% by implementing new manufacturing plan and material resourcing techniques. Design, Supply and Commissioning of 210 kilo liters per day (KLD) Membrane bio reactor (MBR) plant for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nov 2012 – April 2013

Generated bill of material (BOM) and technical datasheets from piping and instrument diagram (P&ID) and general arrangement drawings for vendor negotiations and cost effective manufacturing (In-house manufacturing vs vendor manufacturing).

Lead a team of engineers with the erecting and commissioning work at site with dimensional check of civil structure, erection planning and also resolved design disputes.

Improved the profit margins by 5% with help of meticulous planning, reducing cost of rework and sourcing of bought out component.

ACADEMIC RESEARCH:

Development of Alkali chlorides as Heat Transfer Fluids with addition of nano particles Jan 2014 – April 2015

Enhanced the thermal properties of molten salts (alkali chlorides) with addition of nano particles, which can be used as heat transfer fluids and thermal energy storage materials in Concentrated Solar Plants (CSP).

Created thermal models and analytical models along with material characterization using Scanning Electron Microscope

(SEM), Energy Diffusive Spectrometry (EDS) and X-Ray Photon Spectrometry (XPS) to understand this enhancement. ACADEMIC PROJECTS:

Boundary value analysis of a three dimensional body with varying boundary conditions Sep 2013 - Dec 2013

Developed a temperature profile for a three dimensional body with varying boundary conditions and analyzed the correlation of temperature along with specific heat capacity.

MATLAB was used to generate the temperature profile and graphs of various thermal properties against temperature variations. Boundary layer analysis for a flow over cylinder Feb 2014 - May 2014

Determined the heat transfer coefficients for laminar flow over a cylinder with varying Reynolds number for a given velocity equation.

Developed MATLAB codes and graphs to calculate the flow separation point and then determine variation of heat transfer coefficient with change in the stagnation point.

Failure analysis of a plate with a surface crack emitting from a hole at center Feb 2014 - May 2014

Objective of the analysis was to calculate stress intensity factor at the crack tip using finite element method. Similar analysis was carried out for various crack sizes to determine the optimal method of analysis.

ANSYS APDL was used to carry out the analysis and generate the convergence curve based on varying meshing sizes and boundary conditions.

Fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of cross cut heat sinks Sep 2014- Dec 2014

Objective of the analysis was to perform accelerated thermal cycling (ATC) of a flip chip BGA to determine package warpage distribution and stress stain distribution in solder balls along with location of maximum stress point.

Studied the effect of variation of inlet velocities to determine pressure drop and pumping power using ANSYS Icepack and thus optimizing the heat sink design.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

MS Projects, MS Excel, SAP (MM), Auto Cad 2010, ProE, Solid Works, MATLAB, Mathematica, Star CCM, ANSYS
