As a member of UHG United Health Care Military and Veterans, current role is a Pega Lead Business Architect. Job functions include leading DCO sessions for capturing requirement in the form of use cases, PRPC flows and business rules, leading a team of Pega BAs on complex projects, establishing and implementing SmartBPM methodology best practices for the team, and acting as the overall requirements lead for the team.

As a member of UHG Optum’s Business Process Management (BPM) Center of Excellence (CoE), responsibilities included working with various internal and external customers to determine best fit for and enablement on Pegasystem’s BPM technology solutions. This included analyzing and documenting business needs/requirements, helping to coordinate and prepare demos and establishing best practices for development methodology.

Responsibilities also included participating as needed on project teams to lend expert support, such as functioning as a lead business architect.

Sample projects worked on included requirements gathering and creation of a demo for a referral system for the UK market, as well as for a sales agent mobile solution, and a national/strategic account set up workflow application.

As a Solutions Engineer and a Systems Analyst, responsibilities included analyzing business requirements for large strategic projects, represented through business use cases and user stories, to determine required application and system environment changes. Changes were documented in functional and non-functional specifications using RUP as well as story cards using Agile which were used by down-stream consumers such development, testing and implementation teams. Also managed teams of systems analysts and solution engineers as necessary for various projects.

Solution Design and Consulting Lead

This position entailed working closely with a variety of internal Kaiser business teams to help develop software solutions at a national and regional level, from the conception of the solution through the logical solution design which can be turned over to I.T. development. This included conducting sessions to understand and document the current business processes, conducting joint application session with business teams and I.T. development to gather requirements, documenting use cases and creating a logical solution design. It also included performing additional internal consulting tasks as necessary to help devise a best fit systems solution. The Ouellette requirements process was used extensively, as well as other general systems development processes that involve UML modeling, including the creation of sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, use cases, entity relationship diagrams and object modeling.

Was responsible for evaluating the various standards bodies in healthcare, defining which standards will applied to MEDecision’s offerings and driving those standards within MEDecision particularly as it pertains to integration work. Acted as champion for interfaces insuring that MEDecision developed interfaces based on standards. Worked closely with the Director of the CollaboraCare Consortium and the Director of Product Business Development to qualify partners based on integration ability, with particular emphasis on the partner’s ability/willingness to meet standards. Led technical relationships with all companies that MEDecision interfaced with, including working with the Product Management and Development Teams to educate them on the standards and assisted them in effective utilization of the standards. Had overall responsibility for maintenance and development for systems related to Medical Management at TheZenith, a Worker's Compensation provider. These systems included a medical bill review system, PowerTrak from Ingenix, interfaces to a homegrown claims system from PowerTrak, portions of the claims system related to medical cost containment, numerous interfaces to provider networks and outside vendors, various systems related to the Utilization Review and Case Management process, and reporting needs for the Medical Management business team. Day to day responsibilities included interfacing with the Medical Management business team to identify and prioritize system issues and enhancements, coordinating maintenance and system enhancement efforts within the I.T. organization and providing status back to the senior managers in the Medical Management business unit. Had direct management responsibilities for a team of direct reports and matrixed reports assigned to the system maintenance activities and system enhancements. In addition worked with the Medical Management Business team to develop long term technology strategy to meet business needs.

Position consisted of 3 primary roles, including director of applications architecture, applications development director and primary technical sales support. As applications architecture director, responsibilities included providing overall direction on applications architecture to MEDecision, working closely with product marketing and client services staff to architect business solutions, evaluating and recommending software for application development and business needs and establishing and managing vendor relationships to extend product offerings . Presented recommendations routinely to senior management. Also managed a core team of four applications architects and provided technical direction to them on a regular basis, including hands on development work as necessary. Led an effort to re-design the existing products into a service oriented architecture (SOA), using J2EE patterns and the Blaze Advisor rules engine from Fair Isaac. As primary technical sales support, responsibilities included creating presentations which detailed technical aspects of MEDecision products. Joined Intracorp as a programmer to work on development of a new medical management system for use by in-house staff to replacing existing legacy system. New system was a 3 tier system written in Visual C++, utilizing MTS for transaction processing with an Oracle back end. Developed primarily in Visual C++ and some PL/SQL. Worked with business and development staff to help gather, document and implement requirements for new system. Participated in all system life cycle phases.
