Duties included, but were not limited to:

Set up and maintain data and telecommunications networks, including mainframes, servers,

switches, routers, modems, WAP’s, PBX’s, fiber and copper backbone, patch and cross connect

panels, end terminations. Supervised 20+ direct reports in network management and user

support. Manage users access, permissions, roles and rights through Active Directory. Manage

operational units through Microsoft Server 2003.Train specialists in all aspects of network

management and user support. Instruct end users in basic computer skills and areas of Microsoft

Windows Office Suite and other programs and applications. Respond with federal declarations to

natural disasters, traveling as needed to any state or protectorate, deployments lasting up to 1

year at a time. Provide user support to facilities staffed with up to 500 personnel, reporting to the

Logistics Section Chief and the Federal Coordinating Officer in various facilities ranging from Joint

Federal Field Offices to Disaster Assistance Recovery Centers. Other assignments included

working independently in locations where management was provided through ‘virtual’ facilities.

This commissioned position with DHS requires a federally adjudicated security clearance with

regular and complete background investigations to comply with Federal Agent guidelines.

Unimin Mining Corporation Spruce Pine, NC Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician

Conducted standardized testing procedures of samples of mined and refined product, to ensure

quality and level of purity. Maintained standard scientific records of all testing conducted.

Conducted experimental procedures to improve testing processes, expediting laboratory

production, improving accuracy of testing results. Collaborated with company scientists in

implementation of new processes resultant of advanced testing experiments. Operated various

laboratory equipment including centrifuge, spectrometers, static grav-filtration systems, etc.
