WORK HISTORY
JANUARY 2002 - JULY 2007
General worker SASOL Secunda, Mpumalanga, South Africa
Career start – Contractor at SASOL for 5 years. Firstly as a store man where I received and issued equipment and spares to the mining department. From there I was moved to the export plant where I worked as a plant operator. I was then offered a long term contract at the diesel workshop where I repaired and serviced all mining vehicles as an artisan assistant. I attended training and was promoted to junior millwright and worked on the section maintenance team.
OCTOBER 2008 – DECEMBER 2010
NDT Technician Raysonics Secunda, Mpumalanga, South Africa
Started as a trainee. I conducted radioactive testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing and wall thickness. I completed my MT level 2, PT level 2 and ionizing radiation and radioactive safety principles. Wall thickness was an in-house certification. On site I was responsible for all job cards assigned to me, the radioactive barrier calculation and setup as well as the work permits.
JULY 2011 – MAY 2014
NDT Mast inspector TFMC Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa
Travelling throughout South Africa inspecting telecommunication towers. Conducting full mast integrity and loading inspections. Driving an average of 700km per day from site to site and navigating with a laptop and a GPS. Within 4 months I was promoted to Inland operations manager. As manager my responsibilities were to manage 14 teams remotely from Centurion(Pretoria – South Africa) consisting of planning all inspections, route optimization, plotting masts on maps, QA of all weekly mast reports, personal development plans for each employee, tools and stock, calibration of equipment, location verification with Telkom via Google earth, logistics and time management. Within 2 years as operations manager my divisions profit doubled due to optimization and morale building throughout. My Executive approached me and asked I do this in more divisions. I was then moved to LTP and Electronic tolling commission where I did the same work as mentioned above. Unfortunately I moved away from my passion for NDT and returned back to SASOL, in order to start on NDT again.
SEPTEMBER 2014 – CURRENT
NDT Technician Detect-Stanley inspection Secunda, Mpumalanga, South Africa
Currently a freelance inspector and I work on contracts for Detect when requested. Responsible for all NDT jobs allocated to me. This includes MT, PT and UT inspections.
