Position Held: Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) Engineer

MPD employs a collection of tools and techniques, which may mitigate the risks and costs associated with drilling wells that have narrow downhole environmental limits, by proactively managing the annular pressure profile.

Operates and monitors the MPD operations, analyzing well data and screen wells as potential for the use of MPD techniques in real time or in project stages.

Ensure that the well is been drilled in compliance with the program, advising the driller or company man of any event or problem identified with strong technical knowledge of downhole conditions and provide solutions to issues if required.

Responsible to operate the MPD system on the rig on 12 h shifts and ensure accuracy and consistency of data acquisition, QHSE procedures and documentation on site.

Proficient in MPD techniques (MPD System, Return Flow Control, Constant Bottom Hole Pressure and Mud Cap Drilling), its equipment (Rotating Control Device, Chokes, HPU, HMI) and software.

Responsible for drilling fluid programs and management of chemical logistics. Run all operational process related to fluids for drilling and completions operations, well evaluation and well stimulation. Maintain drilling fluids parameters from spud date until abandon date. Discuss with the team what is suitable for any well problems, troubleshooting while drilling.

Onsite services by measuring, testing, and supervising the running of fluid mixing and pumping, including technical analysis and specific recommendations for controlling fluid properties according to the fluid program. Conduct all activities in accordance to the HSE policies, compliance of legal requirements and cost control.

Supervise third party companies to assure that the companies are following Petrobras technical standards and Brazilian environmental regulations.

Experience Acquired: Knowledge of process and equipment present in drilling rigs, and operations involving drilling and completion of wells. Teamwork behavior, environmental awareness and safety focus.
