The Federal Reserve has required GE Capital to move from a Fiscal to a Calendar monthly/quarterly close cycle by January 2015. All systems must change and comply by that time period. GECA needs to manage this drastic change across over 20 core sub-ledgers and 300+ upstream/downstream systems and meet the demands by the Federal Reserve to be successful. EDW is the Enterprise Data Warehouse that supports various analytical reporting needs for Risk, Marketing, Finance, Lending/Leasing businesses. As LCD changes impact EDW and down streams, it’s critical to understand the exact areas of impact for mitigation planning. Design changes required for absorbing LCD changes needs to be documented as per standard development practices.

SSR is an ad-hoc reporting system used by TR users. Sales, Install, Pending reporting driven by Siebel Sales Order process. Siebel is the primary ordering tool used for turning on / off billable and non-billable products. Siebel orders manage entitlement process and are the creation point for changes in SAP billing .Siebel utilizes Orders to drive changes to Assets, same time Orders communicate to SAP changes to billing.

Siebel sourced data directly from Siebel. Contains data before the application of the SSR rules which is applied before loading into EDW Data Warehouse where it is used for Order Management, Commercial Position and Pending Universes. To be used for reconciliation between Siebel and the reporting universes.

Project Synopsis:

A web based application that was developed to integrate the various data sources across businesses for GGL operations to have a centralized and consistent data store. It provided a detailed cockpit view of daily/ weekly/ monthly/ quarterly/ annual reports based on each operational tower and their respective processes. This provided a single window to all stakeholders for tracking and reviewing the metrics and reporting details and automated the reporting process. It is a central repository of data/ metrics for historical references and statistical analysis and to provide automated mail alerts to stakeholders for monitoring and tracking of operations.

For every transaction generated by a Front Office, Risk Management, Settlement or Cash and Current Accounting System, the Investment Bank is required to record this activity in Finance’s Global General Ledger (GGL). The IB’s integrated front-to-back process supports straight through processing with upstream systems sending daily end of day feeds to the GGL. The Finance architecture, with GGL as its centerpiece, supports the IB’s detailed financial books and records. The GGL is the repository for client, instrument, and position details to support management and financial reporting requirements. Finance staffs whether BUC, FAE, Global Controlling, Control Group, Treasury, or Change-the-Bank (CTB) need to understand how Finance’s architecture works and how it supports their daily and month-end controlling and reporting activities.

The system is primarily used for its flexibility to report recognized revenue, costs, and SGP at various combinations of the customer and product financial hierarchy, and for various periods. The system holds 7 years of historical financial data, and states financial results based on the current customer and product financial hierarchies. This feature supports the creation of trend reports at the level of customer and product that satisfies an individual user's needs. Also, FTS reports on customer and product configuration hierarchy. Data mart FTS is an online reporting system used to report recognized revenues, costs and Sales Gross Profit at various combinations of the customer and product financial hierarchy for various periods thereby supporting creation of trend reports at the level of customer and product resulting an individual user's needs as well as storing 7 years of historical data.
