George Fisher Sloane / Little Rock, AR
Plant Engineering/Maintenance Manager/Consulting
Responsible for plant engineering and maintenance of a 450,000 ft.2 facility operating 24/7. This included all electrical and mechanical maintenance of equipment, new equipment set up and installation, environmental issues as emergency co-coordinator, and purchasing of repair parts. Designed and coordinated installation of HV capacitors to increase the power factor. A preventative maintenance system was initiated in conjunction with becoming certified in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. An energy program was instituted that was responsible for a $50,000 electrical savings a year. A waste oil removal system was designed and installed to comply with new local Little Rock requirements. I worked to establish annual budgets. Direct report of nine people. Worked with and supervised outside janitorial services, lawn services, and all contractors.

Specified a 3000 KVA transformer and electrical layout. Established programs in vibration analysis, PM's, spare parts, training, and equipment with up time analysis. A waste water treatment system was set up and maintained on a 24/7 basis. Worked in establishing a yearly operations budget and capital requests, and administered a three million dollar budget. Direct report of 18 people.

Maintenance Supervisor in the Plywood Mill and Central Electric
Daily supervision of 22 maintenance people in the mill with a three shift, seven day operation involving project engineering, process engineering, capital budgets and appropriations, vibration analysis, scheduling, planned and preventative maintenance, up-time analysis, and a monthly operations budget. Maintained the plant complex 13,800 volt high voltage electrical system. Major projects included installation of a rotary clipper, converting tray (conveyor) drives from analog AC brake and clutch to digital DC drives, and converting old relay logic equipment to PLC.
1984-1988
First Brands Corporation / Cartersville, GA
Project Engineer in Plant Engineering and Maintenance
Project Engineer in Plant Engineering and Maintenance. Responsibilities included capital funds requests, machinery design and modifications, installation of new equipment and start up, machinery and process troubleshooting, safety and maintenance training, and an alternate vendor program for spare parts. Processes included co-extrusion of blown film, slot cast film, and conversion of film into plastic bags. Provided direct supervision to maintenance employees. The alternate vendor program resulted in a first year savings of $400,000 per year over purchasing maintenance machine parts from the manufacturer. Computer-Aided Design (C.A.D.) Systems were evaluated and two systems were purchased and installed to increase the efficiency of the drafting department. As environmental coordinator all new materials used in the plant were approved through the use of MSDS sheets from the manufacturer. This position procured all permits and conducted all testing of waste water, air, and material wastes for proper disposal.
