In my 30+ years with Stelfast, I was engaged in all aspects and functions of the Organization as further outlined below:

Purchasing: Oversaw daily activities of the U.S. purchasing group; managed team of 4 individuals; negotiated price and delivery with overseas and domestic suppliers that serviced U.S. and Canadian Automotive and Commercial customers; established purchasing plan based on min/max levels, consumption/forecasts, etc.; entered and maintained product data into MRP; monitored and stayed abreast of raw material costs, market trends and import procedures (SEA & AIR); acted as intermediary between Quality, Sales and Suppliers to resolve customer complaint issues/rejections; generated purchase orders and monitored through completion.

Established optimal inventory levels resulting in the reduction of excessive expedite costs

Reduced secondary processing costs 9% in the last 2 years

Operations: Set up and managed multiple warehouses. Trained team members in all aspects of order processing, shipping, receiving and material storage.

Reduced inventory errors 12% by instituting a cycle count program.

Negotiated freight rates resulting in a 10% reduction in LTL rates.

Production: Managed production for Hot Heading of bolts and nuts, Cold Heading of standard bolts and wheel attaching bolts and studs, Screw Machining of brake parts for commercial truck applications. Purchased raw material, heat treating and other outside processing as required.

Took the hot heading plant from a startup to profitability in under 2 years.

Sales: Worked both inside and outside with distributors and OEM accounts selling commercial fasteners and commercial truck parts. Trained inside staff for customer service and quoting.

Increased sales by 40% in 5 years.

SERVICE BOLT & NUT, Cleveland, Ohio April 1978 – August 1984

$5 Million Distributor of Industrial Fasteners

Started as an entry level employee in the warehouse packing customer orders. Promoted to internal expeditor within 2 months. Moved to external expeditor in November 1978 and then to inside sales in February 1979. Took responsibility as in-plant representative to Republic Steel Corp (Cleveland Works). Served as outside sales for the Northeast Ohio territory from March 1983 to August 1984.
