Halliburton, Houston, TX 2012 – 2015

Manager, IT and Contract Senior Project Manager

Led development of “Community Infrastructure” work stream on a large program tasked with delivering a cross-organization collaborative development platform. Managed a budget of $4.1m, and a team of between 6 and 14.

Delivered a self-service, highly virtualized environment, a VCE vBlock hardware platform, a shared artifact repository, and a business social capability to enable developer collaboration.

Overcame significant barriers to adoption of the platform by closely collaborating with Organizational Change Management team. Evangelized the new platform, and the new approach to software development at several roadshows.

Developed and implemented Release Management and Configuration Management strategies and processes.

Addressed complex differences between separate business units, and initiated the migration of software solutions to a unified platform.

Specified organizational changes, and created a sustaining operational model. This included organizational structure, operation and support processes, documentation, recruiting and training.

Upon completion of the project, joined Halliburton as an IT Manager delivering the above platform virtual infrastructure, release management and configuration management services. These services were provided to internal customers, and were cross-charged by my team.

As Manager, successfully operated the new environment within SLA’s and financial thresholds, and drove innovation around adding other cloud services and capabilities; the genesis of a hybrid cloud solution.

Drove the evolution of the platform from IaaS towards PaaS. Evangelized DevOps practices now more achievable from the enhanced virtualization and automation capabilities.

CEVA Logistics, Houston, TX 2011 – 2011

Project Manager (Contract)

Led the US development of a series of interrelated financial transformations. These included an intercompany payment factory, a vendor payment hub and a Global general ledger.

Successfully integrated efforts with development resources in India, implementation partners based in the Netherlands and the UK, and the Global Head Office in Amsterdam.

Created and managed project plan, resource plans, forecasts, and project estimates.

Managed the ailing HR Open Enrollment project to a timely successful outcome.

Southern Union Group, Houston, TX 2010 – 2011

Project Manager (Contract)

Managed four simultaneous IT projects from initiation through to closure. Managed scope definition, cost estimating, resource planning and assignment, detailed task planning, status and budget reporting. Reported project performance directly to Steering Committee and senior management.

Led the development of a BI dashboard, surfacing data on project performance, budgets and costs and rolling up into IT organizational budgeting, and providing a graphical display of project health. The main users of this system are senior IT management (CIO and Directors) through to the individual Project Managers. Designed information flows between various data sources and MS Project Server.

Successfully led a SharePoint 2010 upgrade while maintaining the existing 2007 environment, allowing the organization to migrate to the new version. Completed re-design of the hardware infrastructure, and continued with purchasing of all of the required hardware and software, setup and installation.

Led the creation of a check register system to track check stock for manual checks frequently used in right of way acquisitions. Designed and implemented a SharePoint platform with custom developed forms and a workflow tool to manage complex work flows for management approvals and the assignment of check stock.

Designed and implemented a materials tracking system. This allowed Southern Union to expedite and manage inbound materials for pipeline projects with an annual savings of several million dollars.

Mercer HR Services, Houston, TX 2007 – 2009

Client Services Team Lead

Operated, maintained and customized a suite of systems which provide benefits outsourcing to a group of ISD’s. This consists of a proprietary software platform accessed through either a Mercer Call Center or the Web.

Ensured services provided met expectations of performance, quality and compliance.

Coordinated project planning for delivery of annual enrollments in collaboration with all internal groups and with the clients and other external partners.

Managed four teams of business analysts and programmers each headed up by a project manager.

Member of the core leadership team that ensures quality of service delivery to the ISD’s.
