Description of Duties:
This class comprises a highly responsible administrative position in the Emergency
Medical Services (EMS) Division of the Fire Department, the primary duty of which
includes assisting the Fire Chief in monitoring EMS programs, policies, and procedures. The
Director of Emergency Medical Services observes, documents, and reviews all aspects of
EMS operations; makes recommendations for maintaining competency of all personnel
performing EMS functions; provides training in order to assure compliance with established
standards; and maintains division records to assure conformance with accepted medical and
EMS protocol. Communicates in person or by telephone with other medical professionals, the
public, and the news media in order to answer questions, address complaints and discuss
division operations or training, serve as liaison between fire service medical operations and area
hospitals. Coordinate the EMS work of the department with other government and public safety
agencies on projects of mutual concern. Gather information requested by courts, attorneys, or
other authorized persons as directed. Attends official meetings, conducts workshops, delivers
speeches, and meets with civic and governmental groups regarding the Emergency Medical
Service of the department.
Department of Health & Hospitals EMS Task Force

Description of Duties:
The EMS Task Force is comprised of stakeholders with specific experience and expertise
related to the provision of Emergency Medical Services in the different models and
settings common in Louisiana. The Task Force is an advisory group gathered to provide
feedback, advice, and support to the Department of Health & Hospitals, Office of Public

Health, Bureau of EMS and it serves as a forum for the development, consideration, and
communication of information from a knowledgeable, independent perspective. The
EMS Task Force is also responsible for nominating individuals to serve on the EMS
Certification Commission.
City of Pineville Fire Department
1999 – 2011
Captain/Paramedic
Description of Duties:
I was hired by Pineville Fire Dept as an experienced paramedic and was cross-trained to
be a firefighter. I worked my way up through the ranks to earn the position/title of
Captain. While at PFD I was able to become very familiar with emergency fire ground
operations as well as haz-mat awareness. In addition to fighting fires, I frequently served
as Captain/Paramedic for the Emergency Medical Sprint truck. This is an Advanced
Cardiac unit that responds to all calls in the city regardless of the nature of the incident.
This often included fires, haz-mat, motor vehicle accident, cardiac arrest, trauma or
medical, extrication, or going to the police station to check on inmates. I also obtained
instructor status for Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Pre-Hospital
Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and attended the Bureau of EMS
Instructor Workshop while employed with PFD. I also served as a volunteer member of
the water rescue and recovery team as well as a tactical medic for Pineville SWAT.
Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital
2008 – 2011

Description of Duties:
As an employee of Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, I served as a staff Paramedic in
the Emergency Department. My roles and responsibilities may include but not limited to
patient assessment and evaluation, IV therapy, administer and education of medication,
communication with interdisciplinary personnel, patient education, etc. In addition to my
roles in the Emergency Department, I also assisted with staff education by teaching CPR,
ACLS, and PALS.

Administrative Specialists make sure that information is recorded, stored and delivered in
order to keep operations running as smoothly as possible. Roles and responsibilities may
include but not limited to typing letters, reports, requisition forms and official orders,
organizing and maintaining files and publications, ordering office supplies, greet and
assist office visitors, scheduling training and leave for unit personnel, answering phones
and providing general information, providing technical guidance on administrative
matters to other soldiers. Administrative Specialist must be skilled in English grammar,
spelling and punctuation, typing and clerical skills, proof reading, setting up and
maintaining filing and publication systems, preparing forms and correspondence in Army
style.
45K10 Tank Turret Repair for the United States Army
30 November 1990 to 21 May 1991 (Honorable Discharge)
Description of Duties:
A Tank Turret specialist supervises and performs direct and general support and depot
level maintenance/repairs on the mechanisms/systems of tank turrets/weapons, fighting
vehicles, towed/self-propelled artillery, small arms and other infantry weapons. Maintain
the tank and armor equipment which is to include but not limited to electrical and
hydraulic systems and keeping it in operational readiness and able to perform its assigned
missions. Tank specialists are required to learn and become trained members of the tank
crew, in addition to other systems found on the different Armor pieces. Tank Specialists
are trained to become crew members and assume different functions in keeping the tanks
operational.
