Dominic A. Barracchini P.E.

Engineering River Consulting –Senior Project Manager

Engineering, Operations and Project Management experience in the design, installation and startup of multimillion dollar capital facility projects, a Methanol Terminal in Giesmar La, and a condensate splitter plant and terminal in Houston TX. I have managed contracts with engineering firms as well as outside installers and in-house operations personnel for the completion of these large facility projects

Nuclear Power Plant- Senior Nuclear Engineer Project Manager

Provide project management for large capital projects. Currently working on the Specification, procurement and installation of three large power transformers. I also worked on the Reactor Recirculation Pumps Seal and Seal Cooler for our refueling outage in 2014.

Fossil Power Plant – Advanced Engineer

Provide technical support for plant operations in generation and FGD process. Provide project leadership for the design, manufacture and installation of capital and expense projects for forced and planned outages. Specify rotor replacement for a 650,000 ACFM ID fan. Test and verify model to ensure optimum fan performance. Design of new progressive damper system for fan inlet control. Demolition of existing fan and installation of new fan dampers and housing. Total project exceeded $3.5MM. Improvement of thickener systems including rake drive, bearing supports and pumping systems. Project management for planned and forced unit outages. Technical support of replacement Scrubber Module mist eliminator systems for outage and upgrade projects.

Portable Safety Instrument Division – Senior Staff Engineer

Provided leadership for Lean and Six Sigma Projects across the organization. Taught and led 5S, SMED and Value Stream Mapping events in North American Operations. Worked in the sensor manufacturing area to provide project management for new product development and sustaining support for existing products. Particular experience in

Facilities improvements for the implementation of new equipment for the manufacture of combustible and toxic gas sensors.

Chemical Polymer Plant - Mechanical/Process Reliability Engineer

Provided technical assistance to the Dylark operation for project and process management, turnaround and maintenance activities. Responsible for implementing reliability methodologies like Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Reliability Center of Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Equipment Criticality Analysis and other reliability-based maintenance engineering principles and practices. Some of the major accomplishments include redesign of a reactor seal that has increased the mean time between failures significantly, management of capital and expense projects totaling over one million dollars in 1999 alone. Project management was done using the PD&I model and creating business cases as well as presentations to the Beaver Valley Decision Board. Provided leadership for the Continuous Improvement Team in Dylark. Participated on a multi-disciplined team to review and make recommendations for fire safety corporate wide. Provided leadership direction and coordination of contract designers and engineering firms, as well as co-ops for the completion of project work.

Airport Facility Hangar Door Fabricator – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Design of structural steel doors for airport and industrial applications. Drew and directed detailers as per written contracts and specifications from the customer. Interfaced with our shop, outside contractors and field engineers to properly fabricate the desired product. Provided engineering calculations to support the design for approval.

PVC Vertical Blind Manufacturer - Product Development Engineer

Contracted to design and produce hurricane shutters and tooling using AutoCAD Release 12. Designed dies and sizer blocks for rigid vinyl and foam. Trained in the programming and operation of a Charmille Robofil 300 CNC EDM machining center.

Dominic A. Barracchini P.E.

Extruded and Injection Molded Products – Manager of Quality Assurance and Engineering

Initiated and implemented a SPC and QC program for injection molded parts and extrusions. Rehired staff and managed 3 facilities while restarting the rigid PVC extrusion lines for vinyl window and door products. Modified dies and calibrators as well as worked on vacuum systems and chiller systems which were required to get the plant into operation.

PVC Window Profile Manufacturer – Shift Superintendent

Responsible for the production of rigid PVC compound and extrusions for vinyl windows and doors. Supervised the crew and troubleshot the extrusion process.

Tire Press and Extrusion Equipment Manufacturer – Senior Design

Designed and prototyped a linkage mechanism to open and close molds used to make plastic bottles in an extrusion blow molding process. Using Autocad and a LISP routine called LINK, simulation and design of the linkage was accomplished. Received a UNITED STATES PATENT for the linkage design. Designed the structure and detailed the main cam and support using dynamic, kinematic and static engineering principles. Used fluid dynamic and heat transfer principles to calculate the required water flow into and out of the machine for mold cooling. Using previous experience with polyurethane materials I developed a compression pad to generate the required 10 tons of mold closing force. Designed and directed detailers to develop the opening and closing cam that operated the mechanical linkage which was also a requirement of the blow molding project. Worked closely with the machine shop to build the first prototype which was displayed in the 1991 NATIONAL PLASTICS EXPOSITION in Chicago. Calculated the flow requirements and pressure drops through a dual parison triple layer head and used TK solver to build a mathematical model. Directed other design engineers who did the actual detailing and design of the head, based on the model provided was part of the management responsibility required for the project. Also, being solely responsible for approving all drawings and designs was a requirement of the position.

Vitrified China Manufacturer – Project Mechanical Engineer

Designed steel dies used to make platters in a horizontal press from spray dried clay, and detailed the models used to coat the dies with polyurethane. Designed the compression ring used to form the platter. Sourced vendors who could WIRE EDM the oval compression ring from hardened tool steel. Designed tools for the jiggering process using AutoCAD and

hand scanner. The designing of a hand tool to cut cup handles in a semi-automated fashion allowed production to be increased dramatically. Responsible for the specification, purchase, installation and start-up of a cup making machine.

Assisted maintenance and redesigned a large planetary gear train used to mix clay reclaim tanks. This involved redesigning the bevel gear and pinion, then having a new wooden pattern made and having it cast in malleable iron.
