Evaluated and managed patients with both acute and chronic medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, sore throat, upper respiratory infections, headaches, anxiety, depression and abdominal pain. Performed well child visits, women’s health exams, annual physicals, and medication check-ups.
Cardiology March 16 – April 16, 2015
St. Margaret’s Hospital – Pittsburgh, PA
Evaluated and managed patients of varying ages in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Managed cases of hypertension, congestive heart failure, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease, and cardiac dysrhythmias. Acted as first assist during cardiac catheterization procedures. Evaluated and discussed EKG’s, echocardiograms, treadmill and pharmacologic stress tests.

Performed annual, acute and obstetric history and physicals within the outpatient setting. Independently performed pelvic exams, PAP smears, and endocervical cultures. Assisted in pessary insertions and removals, colposcopies, IUD insertions, and Implanon insertions and removals. Provided extensive patient education on contraception methods. Attended pharmaceutical representative meetings.

Evaluated and managed patients of varying ages and complaints within a fast-paced setting. Completed suturing/stapling and removal, abscess incision and drainage and dental blocks. Completed urine analysis, rapid strep tests, splinting, joint immobilization, wound care and dressing, obtained and interpreted electrocardiograms, evaluated and discussed plain radiographs/MRI/CT scans and labs.

Acted as first and second assist in performing various surgeries in trauma, cardiology, respiratory and gastroenterology. Prepped and draped, completed surgical wound closures with staples and suture, placed hemovacs, wound care and dressing, placement of Foley catheters, and skin harvesting and transplantation. Removed hemovacs and JP drains. Dictated through EPIC. Attended morning meetings and rounding. Worked daily in the trauma bay and aided in patient evaluation for emergent surgery for gunshot wounds, stab wounds, sexual assault victims, acute abdomen, cardiac arrest, and motor vehicle accidents.
