As a utility inspector I was overseeing ditching, test lead installation, tie ends, and digging bell holes. My job also involved keeping up with numbers on 20” FBE .344 wall pipe and the ARO .500 wall. I watched over back filling as well. My job also includes watching the contractor dig under hot lines, water lines, and electrical lines. Conduct tailgate meeting in the mornings before the job starts and have good work ethic with the contractor.

Duties include but not limited to Utility Inspection on clearing right-of-way, stringing flex steel, trenching, backfilling, restoration and HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling). My job also included Environmental non-compliance issues such as

Storm water and installing Erosion Control Devices. I also make sure the contractor stays on the ROW and have good communication with the contractor at the job.

Sr. Utility Inspector/Environmental Inspector

My duties included Utility and Environmental Inspection for Access Midstream. There was an 8 inch and 16 inch lines. I ensured that the contractor installed water bars where needed. I oversaw seeding, mulching, and crimping. I also made sure that all ECD’s (Erosion Control Devices) were installed correctly. As a Sr. Utility Inspector my job also included overseeing contractor clearing ROW (right-of-way), digging ditch, lowering in pipe, backfilling and restoration. I worked on building compressor station and installing PRV stacks, meters, and valves.

Lead Environmental Inspector

As the lead environmental inspector my duties include storm water pollution prevention plan. I keep up with documents and making copies to put in other Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan books. Watch out for any erosion that tries to leave the ROW or any that goes toward major water body or wetland area. Any wetlands that are dug have to be top soiled. My job is also to communicate with the contractor about any environmental concerns. Other things I deal with are dewatering hydro test water. The contractor usually builds a dewatering structure with 10 mill plastic and hay bales. There is silt fence installed at every major water body crossing and wetland areas. I also watch over Marine Terminal Project and the Beaumont Terminal Project. My job is also to make sure the contractor uses a filter bag when dewatering a trench. I make sure that the contractor also cleans up any mud that fracs out into any wetland. The mud is usually transferred from the area to the pit or transferred off the property into a vac truck. I also watch over Oil Tanking Terminals.

As an environmental inspector my job includes doing storm water reports after every rain event. I also look over all wetland and water body crossing. I make sure the wetlands and water body crossing get top soiled and separated from sub soil. I also do de-compaction testing on croplands and agriculture fields to make sure that the compaction testing is good after clean up. The other things I deal with is sign off tract sheets when the job is completed. One other thing is I communicate with inspectors if they have any question on environmental compliance. Dewatering structure and filter bags are also another job I deal with and non-compliances also. The job here is to go by state and local guide lines. Especially dealing with the environment.

I am currently working on the Eagle Ford Shale project for Chesapeake Energy. As a Utility Inspector my responsibilities are to ensure construction and installation of gas pipeline are performed by Chesapeake standards and safety requirements. Take inventory of all pipe, parts and valves unloaded, organize and document all materials received. Monitor contractor during all phase’s from clearing ROW, installing meters, valves, PRV stacks, lowering in pipe, digging, backfilling, sand blasting, coating to final clean up ROW. Inspect all aspects of the job, hydro testing of bore pipe and complete the line. Worked extensively to strived and maintain a safe working environment with all crews, as well as directed work between three other Utility/Environmental Inspectors to ensure proper placement ECD’s (erosion control devices). Also helped many other Utility Inspectors answering questions involving environmental compliance related with the work they were overseeing. Attend all Chesapeake required safety meetings and all contractor tail gate meetings. I worked in compressor station as well.
