SUMMARY
Seeking entry-level programming position (in Seattle) where my training in physics and knowledge of coding
can bring value to an organization.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Adept: Java, MATLAB; Skilled: C, C++, LabVIEW; Familiar: Unix, Tcl
EDUCATION
B.S. Physics, Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL GPA: 3.40/4.00 May 2015
Wheaton Physics Scholarship Award 2011
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
Research Intern, IBM Watson Research Center, Yorktown, NY Summer 2014
I worked on a team that developed custom chips for the specific needs of other researchers. I was put in
charge of fixing the faulty software of a UV scanning laser’s motor-controlled platform. The laser was needed for
precisely melting or burning off thin layers of metal on chips. I also participated in another team’s cutting-edge
optics research by setting up automation for their tests.
Analyzed and rewrote entire computer-to-motor software system, with components in C++,
•
LabVIEW, and the motion-controller’s assembly language
• Developed a user-friendly application from scratch with complete control over the laser’s 4-axis-
motion platform, eliminating all the bugs and ambiguity of the previous software
• Fitted said application with extensive documentation, user error fail-safes, and complex built-in
command sequences for the specific practical needs of the team
• Helped a research team by integrating their various testing equipment with LabVIEW
• Developed a user-friendly LabVIEW application to run all of the tests, greatly increasing the
team’s research capability
Hardware Verification Intern, IBM Systems & Technology Group, Poughkeepsie, NY Summer 2012, 2013
I worked on a team responsible for designing cutting-edge, early stage semiconductor circuits. My task
was to verify the performance of said components on preliminary test versions of chips.
Learned Tcl coding on the job in order to write I/O code macros and corresponding user
•
interfaces for the automation of new testing procedures on different chip components
Modified preexisting Tcl programs to add functionality, including multi-thread processing
•
Recorded, organized and presented test result data to project team weekly
•
Also gained working experience with oscilloscopes, soldering iron, and various hardware testing
•
setups
RELATED EXPERIENCE
Customer Service Administrator, Military Prestige Marketing, Poughkeepsie, NY Summer 2010, 2011
• Utilized SAP and MS Access database to oversee order flow process from purchase order
placement to store receipt.
Physics Tutor, Wheaton College B.R.I.D.G.E program, Wheaton, IL March 2013 – April 2013
• Volunteered to tutor high school senior enrolled in college’s B.R.I.D.G.E. program
