Materials Science, Metallics & Welding

Supported all departments on metallurgical / materials related issues.

Salvaged approximately 25 30 Screen components through Metallurgical testing, saving estimated $500K worth of product customer was not originally willing to accept due to documentation traceability of product.

Ensured on time delivery of 150 Screen shunt tubes under limited time restraints through creating new weld procedure, solving welding problems with outside vendor, and qualifying 2 3 additional outside vendors to weld on project, resulting in estimated $1 2M contribution for December of 2014, and also gaining customer’s business for early months of 2015.

Contributed to successful start-up of Lafayette facility by qualifying 8 10 welders to all industry standards and weld procedures used in production and qualifying heat treat shop for production so both welding and heat treat operations could be properly certified and documented for both industry and customer audits.

Developed welding procedures to NACE MR0175, meeting customer’s request leading to at least 2 new production orders, resulting in 3 6 months of work and approximately $5M of business growth.

Supported both Electrical Resistance (ERW) and Spiral Mill (DSAW) pipe mills on all metallurgical issues.

Contributed to successful start-up of Stupp’s spiral pipe mill by providing plant manager daily reports, leading to reduction of scrap loss and efficiency in operation.

Provided weekly and monthly data analysis on top reasons for scrap loss and problem solved with team members on how to reduce scrap on week-to-week and month-to-month basis, resulting in cost savings.
