Worked as a Home Health Therapist performing both Home Health Physical and Occupational therapy services to home bound patients, both neurologically and orthopedically impaired adults, and supervising PTAs with patients assigned to them. This was done in Cameron County in South Texas. Simultaneously, worked as a PRN Physical and Occupational Therapist for Ensign Skilled Nursing facilities in both Harlingen and Brownsville, TX, providing services in both professional disciplines as needed to patients with a variety of diagnosis and impairments to include hip/knee replacements, CVA, and many others. Planned, organized, developed, and staffed new rehab department in a Skilled Nursing Facility: This was accomplished with the development of new policies and procedures, organization of screening and referral systems within and externally to the facility, assisting in the development of an in-house restorative program, staffing the department with appropriate staff and development of a PRN pool of therapists to use as needs dictated. Obtained and implemented new electronic documentation and billing system, ROX. Became the administrator for the new system named Rehab Optima. South Texas Regional Director: Worked with Rehab VP to develop strategies for rehab services development company wide, recruiting and retaining strategies for professional staff, professional staff development and training guidelines for the region. Directed Seven (7) Rehab Departments extending from Corpus Christi TX to the Rio Grande Valley of TX. Based in Brownsville TX. Planned, organized, developed, and staffed the departments with Licensed Therapists and assistants. Responsible for hiring qualified and ethical individuals, PT, OT, SLP’s, to work with each assigned facility within the company. Provided leadership and training to facility DORs and staff therapists. Consulted with Regional VP, Directors of Nursing, Nursing Consultants, facility staff, and Nursing Home administrators concerning rehabilitation services and coordination of those services. Assisted in training of department personnel in current company and departmental policies and procedures, current Medicare/Medicaid regulations as well as current coding and billing practices and applications. Prepared department personnel for annual surveys and assisted in the development of system preparedness for any survey. Participated as a mock surveyor to aid in departmental readiness for survey. Assisted in the development of QA practices. Worked with Company Marketer in promoting Rehabilitative services to a variety of referral sources and monitoring/tracking of referrals to assigned facilities.

Director of Rehab for skilled nursing facility. Provided Professional Physical therapy services to residents of this facility. Responsible for maintaining department services ready. Responsible to maintaining appropriate numbers of in-house staff and well as development of an as needed pool of therapists to use as the situations dictate. Responsible for the training of staff in current billing and coding practice and to act as consultant to facility administrator, director of nursing, and facility staff as indicated. Left position to join Windsor during company transition to new ownership. Have remained as PRN PT and OT for new owners (Ensign) since then 2008-present.

Based in Corpus Christi, TX, responsible for facilities from Corpus Christi to Laredo, to deep south Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. Worked as a consultant to facility Administrators, Skilled Nursing staff, and Rehab Staff. Provided Training consisting of best practices for services delivery, billing and coding, Providing Monthly training to facility administrators along with Regional VP on Rehab departmental status, rehab issues, Provided quarterly Rehab training, along with VP for Rehabilitation and other Texas Regional Rehab Managers, to all Texas state Professional rehab staff. Also provided rehab staff training on Medicare and Medicaid changes as well as billing/coding changes as they pertained to rehab. Functioned, as assigned, as a mock surveyor in assigned facilities in order to assist them to prepare for actual surveys and to help identify areas of deficits or those in need of further attention.

Responsible for management of hospital based rehabilitation services for this community in south central TX. As a contractor, Developed Therapy services for both inpatient and outpatients and in hospital SNF for this rural community and the surrounding cities and towns in the area. Developed a sports medicine program for these communities, in conjunction with an Orthopedic Surgeon, to address injuries to high school athletes in the area. This involved reaching and working with approximately fifteen area school districts, their coaches and athletic trainers. Provided state of the art wound care hospital in and out patients and interventions for orthopedic patients. Developed a pool of therapists to assist in adequate coverage for services in this area. Worked with utilization review committees and quality assurance teams.
