07/03 to 02/05, Postdoctoral Fellow, The University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS 39406

1.Developed biodegradable and yet hydrophobic coating from natural proteins and ready for commercialization, which solved the tough compatibility issue in the industry.

2.Synthesized biodegradable polyester dispersion with much better performance than these in the market.

3.Synthesized water-based polyurethane, acrylate emulsion, epoxy ester dispersion with incorporated vegetable oils.

4.Formulated the first non-silane and zero VOC water-based water repellant/stain meeting Federal requirements for the cellulose surface and ready for commercialization.

06/01 to 07/03, Team Leader/Senior R&D Chemist, Oculus Ltd. Singapore

1.Led a cross-functional team (10) to push the new generation of color lens to the production line and to commercialize it before April 2003 with the following accomplishments:

The new product penetrated into the markets of over 20 countries within half year.

The company’s 3rd quarter sales grew 35% and revenue grew 21% for the 2nd half of 2003.

The new color lens contributed 37% and 48% company revenue for 2005 and 2006, respectively.

Another $ 4.2 million was raised to expand the production capacity to copy the sales growth momentum.

2.Developed and commercialized the 3rd generation ink for color lens project (Singapore Economic Development Board project) with better performance than that of No.1 competitor, including polyurethane hydrogel synthesis and coating formulations.

3.Synthesized novel ophthalmic materials with excellent performance for conventional lenses and improved the present ophthalmic materials polymerization with 5% rejection in lens processing instead of 30% rejection before improvement.

4.Improved comfort level of the present formulation of the lens care solution for the daily usage.
