OBJECTIVE: To utilize my associate’s degree in early childhood development and prior teaching history to teach and impact the lives of parents and children. The goal of leading and teaching head teacher’s methods that will enhance the child care experience for the center, parents, and employees.

BACKGROUND SUMMARY: I have years of early childhood development, from ages 6 weeks to 4 years old. I have been fortunate to work in many different childhood educational environments because of my husband’s military career.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Cornerstone Academy Lithonia GA: Head Infant teacher performing exercises that promote motion and movement to aids infants in walking and sitting up. Work closely with parents giving daily updates on accomplishments while promoting a happy and fun loving environment.

LaPetite Academy Newport News Virginia: Assistant teacher to 4 year olds 04/2000-09/2000

Assistant teacher with the 4 year olds developing the building blocks of education including grammar and writing skills. Helping establish curriculums and implementing the curriculums with the children. Assisted staff other staff members with snacks, cleaning, outside play setting up water play, and substituting for other teachers when they were absent.

Little Bears Child Care Learning Tupelo, MS: Teacher to 2 year olds 10/2000-02/2001

My job duties included teaching the children colors, shapes, letters and numbers during learning circle time. Observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional disturbance, learning disorder, speech problem or other special needs and immediately reports observations to the teacher for follow up. As head teacher I had to maintain discipline and supervision of children according to established guidelines. When the children came in from outside we went over what was introduced to the children during circle time that morning.

My job was as an assistant teacher to help with any and all duties that was pertaining to the child welfare. I worked with the head teacher assisting with planning the curriculum for the month in themes and units which will enable the children to build physical, emotional and social/personal growth. Assisted staff with developing educational and professional development plan.

Adventures In Learning Tampa, Florida: Teacher to 6 months to 12 months old 11/2004-03/2007

Responsibilities included plan with and assist the teacher in preparing materials and supplies in advance for activities. Ensure that classroom supplies and equipment are used effectively and are available. Share in the development and implementation of written lesson plans. Define for parents the educational offerings in the next age group. To teach always on the floor with them and holding them for a short amount of time though out the day. Daily walks with the children and a feeding regiment that kept the children feed and well nourished.

The Peacock’s Plume Valrico Florida: Lead Teacher infants 6 weeks to 7 months 03/2007-04/2009

Responsibility at the Peacock’s Plume was to care and watch over infants from the 6 week to 7 month age range. Effectively schedule staff and children into classrooms to meet target labor hours and state required ratios. Making sure they were feed on demand, and keep the schedule that some parents outlined for their babies. Daily outside time with organized activities that catered to sharing among the children. The curriculum included getting them to crawl, sit up and tummy time while reading stories to them, blowing bubbles added to the fun atmosphere that we were creating in the room.

Valrico Elementary School Florida: Unique Assistant Aide Teacher 08/2009-06/2010

Responsibility was to work closely with the Head Teacher, with the ESE students in various age groups and difference levels of the children. Assist the teacher with creating and maintaining a variety of reports and documents. Complete daily and monthly paperwork including attendance, health checklist, parent transport lists and exclusion reports. If the head teacher was out I was able to lead the class as if he/she were present.

Easter Seals of Florida: 01/2011-6/8/2011

I worked with a teen parent program at South County Career Center. My responsibility was the Lead teacher with 8 months to 12 month olds. I worked on social, cognitive skills just to name a couple. Lead selected learning activities as designated. Observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional disturbance, learning disorder, speech problem or other special needs and immediately reports observations to the teacher for follow up. Circle time, Art and lots of small group activities. I educated teen moms on different child care techniques while at home. Provide ample opportunities for parents to ask questions and express concerns while ensuring that teachers effectively present curriculum. Enhance curriculum as needed to meet student’s developmental needs.

The Peacocks Plum Valrico, Florida: 12/5/11 12/30/11

I worked at the Peacocks Plum again as a floater. I served in the infant room and served in the pre-K room as an assist teacher. Assisted staff with developing educational and professional development plan. Attended and participates in staff meetings, center events, and parent/customer meetings as requested.

My duties included deliver lesson plans as instructed by the regular classroom teacher and/or school administrators. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students within the assigned classroom. Communicate in a positive way with all students and staff and manage student behavior which supports a positive learning environment. Manages classroom and provides instructions according to plans as prepared by the classroom teacher. Assisted the teachers with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc. Used appropriate judgment to act in the best interest of students at all times while leading and guiding them daily.
