Graduate Projects at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI CAE Projects

Experience in linear and nonlinear analysis, fatigue analysis, stress analysis, contact problems and optimization using HyperMesh for pre-processing and Abaqus, OptiStruct as solvers.

• Simulation of spring back effect: Aim was to determine the spring back angle and amount of spring back in a metal pressing process for different cases of blank thickness, ram velocity & coefficient of friction.

• Simulation and analysis of Equal Channel Angular Press (ECAP) process: Aim was to study strain induced in billet as it passes through the die for different cases die, billet velocity, corner radius & coefficient of friction.

• Simulation of flip chip package: Aim was to determine the life of the a typical flip chip subjected to thermal loading cycle. Effects of manufacturing defects on the life of the chip were analyzed.

• Simulation of bearing press fit analysis: Aim was to determine the amount of stresses induced in the bearing assembly during the press fitting process.

NVH Projects

Knowledge and understanding of noise control, wind noise, tire noise, powertrain noise. Experience in performing physical modal testing, signal processing and denoising.

• Experimental Modal analysis of 3/8 BIW Scale model of Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Impala to determine deflection modes at different frequencies and Validation of results through FEM analysis.

• Determination of free response of MDOF: Developed MATLAB code to obtain a free response for damped and undamped systems by specifying mass and stiffness matrices and initial conditions of an MDOF vibratory system.

• Developed FFT and STFT codes using Radix 2 algorithm and compared the computation time and results from the inbuilt FFT function in MATLAB.

• Developed code perform Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) using Mexican hat wavelet.
