Performed biomass system integration with new techniques and tested it. Operated and Maintained Gasification Unit for the production of syngas from wood chips

Operated and Maintained Gas Chromatography system for analyzing the syngas composition

Boosted gasification unit’s performance by designing new layout for TAR purifiers, thereby increased the purity of syngas by 20%. Operated and Maintained Colorimeter to identify the purity of syngas

Implemented the principles of Design of Experiments to perform thermal spray on stainless steel sheets as a weight effective solution to the conventional hydrogen fuel cell plates. This project was a part of General Motors (GM) research in hydrogen fuel cells

Utilized polyoxometalate (POM) with metallic catalyst, oxidized and removed Carbon Monoxide from the SYNGAS and enhanced the power output in PEM Fuel Cell

Worked on the CNC milling operation and other fuel cell projects in Cincinnati Milacron Milling Machine

Created an efficient workplace and improved processes by preparing process mapping and flowcharts for critical operations, hence made the processes run more effectively

Worked with colleagues to identify the problematic machines/parts, thereby made decisions on purchase

Responsible for operating supplies through established vendors, managed and helped the students/colleagues with their related work

Won Students First Grants for US $2500; helped colleagues to prepare the concept paper for it. Worked on the R&D concept papers for US $500,000 grant and helped the Director of IRTT to submit those to USDA, DoD

UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE:

Teaching Assistant – Department of Mathematics, Farmingdale State College SUNY, NY Sept 2014 – May 2015

Worked part-time as a mathematics tutor under Dr. Kalemaris in the Department of Mathematics

Helped her to provide assistance to the students related to mathematics in Fall 2014 and Spring 2015

Industrial Trainee P.S.G Institute of Advanced Studies, Coimbatore, TN, India July 2011 – April 2014

Hands on training in all the manufacturing processes starting from a standard lathe to CNC Machining centers on the shop floor

Hands on training in all the laboratories - Strength of Materials, Metrology, Themo-dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Industrial Metallurgy, Dynamics of Machinery etc.

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE:

Mechanical/Manufacturing Summer Intern Tata Motors, Pune, MH, India May 2013

Individually monitored and optimized VTABS (Vehicle Tracking and Bay Stabilization), identified and analyzed the reasons for downtime and inefficiency; thus improved the efficiency and productivity of the workshop from 55% - 58% vehicles to 66% - 75% vehicles being serviced and delivered daily. Recorded and maintained to achieve the overall bay productivity and bay utilization% from 1.2 to 2 and 10.47% to 24.51% respectively

Monitored Kaizen principles in the workshop and brought continuous improvement in quality, implemented TQM (Total Quality Management) to increase the production capacity and reduce cost

ACADEMIC PROJECTS:

Designed, fabricated and tested small scale ‘Pelton Wheel Turbine’ for the purpose of generating electricity easily and efficiently, while keeping the cost of the turbine at US $40

Created PLC Programming and implemented it to control Pneumatics

Worked on the vibration analysis of a cantilever beam using accelerometer interfaced with virtual instrumentation and validated the same using experimental values

Calculated cumulative effect and GD&T measurements for a typical automotive assembly

Constructed and tested Lego Robot; Programmed the motion control system for the robot using acoustic sensors like ultraviolet, light, sound etc. in LabVIEW

Designed and presented an exploded view of the single plate clutch assembly, various types of jigs and fixtures, components of the woody biomass gasification system, disc brake, PCBs and many other mechanical/electronic parts in Autodesk Inventor Professional software

Worked on Solidworks for the modeling of various assemblies, including flange coupling, journal bearing, cotter joint, plummer block, machine vice, screw jack and tail stock in machine drawing
