U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, WRD

GSA Center Guaynabo, PR

Performed collection of sediment data, water quality, groundwater, and surface water duties as follows:

Collected and analyzed water-quality data such as temperature, specific conductance, pH, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, and bacteriological analysis.

Provided logistic support to the water quality unit.

Performed bacteria growth.

Inventoried pumping wells to estimate daily withdrawals rates.

Estimated water demands by relating crop types and land use to standard irrigation schedules.

Maintained water-level measuring stations to prevent problems, such as, friction loss and mechanical and electrical failure of the instruments and equipment.

Assisted in the construction of potentiometric surface maps in southern Puerto Rico for use in the calibration of ground-water models.

Assisted in low-flow seepage runs to determine surface-/groundwater interactions.

Made stream discharge measurements at all stages, at times under extremely adverse conditions.

Ensured proper functioning of pressure transducers and data loggers, DCP, radar, Sutron equipment and meteorological stations to prevent data loss.

Collected and preserved water-quality samples in accordance with QA/QC guidelines.

Computed and check surface water discharged records from field data, applying shift and datum correction for annual report.

Surface water record computation for mean daily discharge using ADAPS and GRSAT for USGS yearly Water Data Report.

Provided monthly maintenance and calibration to sediment station, instruments and equipment.

Author of the Sediment Data and Information Web-Based Electronic Application (SED_WE), sponsored by the Office of Surface Water (OSW), the Office of Water Quality (OWQ) and Caribbean Water Science Center.

Prepared computation records of sediment loads from mean daily discharge to be included in the USGS Water Data Report.

Prepared BCARDS and GCL file to compute Sediment loads using GCLAS.

Recorded data in notebooks, field sheets, or in PDAs or laptop computers.

Uploaded data to programs such as NWIS or ADAPS.

Performed duties as Fleet Coordinator for the Caribbean Water Science Center. Laboratory Technician GS-1315-4 1992 - 1998

(NFQA).

Analyzed natural waters for a number of parameters including specific conductance, pH, alkalinity, color, turbidity, and various residues.

Prepared media kits for field use, performed bacterial analysis by membrane filter and multiple-tube methods, and determined biochemical oxygen demand (BOD).

Assisted in the organic section with various extractions.

Collected soil/gas and water samples at McDill Air Force Base in the Tampa Sub District office, and analyze the samples for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH). Hydrologic Technician GS-1316-4 1987 - 1992
