Key Duties:

Responsible for developing procedures to coordinate the support and maintenance of all Windows based PC systems.

Include recommendations for the acquisition of new PC hardware and software, troubleshooting PC problems,

arranging for repair of systems, as well as hardware and software installation, configuration, repair and upgrades of PC

and Linux systems. Similar tasks apply to peripherals. Responsibilities also included the monthly system backups of all

computers including Unix/Linux machines, PC's, and Macintosh computers.

Responsible for the development and management of the computer based real time data management system for the

GPS AIRSIS buoy positioning project. Using C, Python, Unix Shell, php and html, developed the backend software to

retrieve and manipulate GPS data which was then formatted and displayed in dynamic tables on a web page. Also

created scripts to send position, transmission and health alerts to key personal if certain criteria were met, ie. GPS

position was outside a watch circle range, failed transmissions and battery life of unit.

Responsible for development and management of web pages to dynamically display Red Tide satellite images using

Python and Shell scripting. This includes creating tables on the fly as well as scripts to discriminate based on dates of

images whether to display them in public directory or a password protected private directory.

Developed code using Python to manipulate High Frequency Radar data files and move files created daily to

appropriate directories as well as displaying the most recent images on the web.

Responsible for the development and management of the computer based real time data management system for the

Bottom Stationed Ocean Profiler (BSOP). Using C, Shell Scripting, php and Matlab, developed programs to manipulate

incoming data and place in appropriate directories. Then used shell scripting to execute Matlab scripts to create plots

and maps of data and then displayed data on the web.

Assisted in management of Aspen Systems 32 node cluster, including hardware, software and configuration

management.

Responsible for website design, development, maintenance and revisions including markup language, program coding,

graphics development and web server administration.

Participated in the design, development, and testing of programs and routines used in collection, analysis, and

dissemination of oceanographic data. Data management responsibilities included writing program code for

manipulation of oceanographic data.
