Power Factor Correction (Current)

• Static Var Compensator(SVCs) is used to correct the power factor lagging and the control for

SVCs was done using the microcontroller.

Power System Analysis (November, 2013)

• Interconnection of a 200MW wind power plant in already established Transmission grid to

minimise the losses and Contingency analysis was performed using Powerworld simulator.

• Selecting a circuit breaker for 345/138KV buses by performing fault analysis using

Powerworld simulator.

DTMF controlled home appliances (March, 2012)

• Mobile phone was used for switching on/off the LEDs with the help of a programmed micro-

processor installed on a PCB.

Eddy Current Braking (February, 2013)

• Electro-magnets were used for braking without getting into physical contact with the rotating

aluminium disc mounted on a motor shaft.

Achievements

• Won second prize for Paper Presentation in Inter-college Technical Fest (Introduction to

Nanotechnology).

• Won second prize in inter-school chess competition.
