To whom it may concern:

My background in the machining trades me an excellent candidate for a position in your

advertised machine shop opening.

I graduated with several diplomas and certificates in my vocational training (copies available upon

request). I mostly do manual machine work but I did learn some CNC. None of the places that I

worked had CNC so much of that training is obsolete. I am good at problem solving, can read blue

prints and follow directions well. You will notice on my résumé that I have had extensive Tool and

Die experience also. I started out as a Manual Machinist and went on to Tool and Die as a

profession. I am proficient in Manual Machining and I can operate all machine shop tools. I can

weld Tig, Mig and do some stick welding as well as brazing. As a toolmaker, I am required to

make new parts for dies, so I can heat treat and grind parts to very close dimensions as well as

repair broken parts. I also have experience in “reverse engineering” parts, or making a new, good

part from an old broken one.

With my acquired skills, I believe that I could be an excellent machinist or toolmaker for your

facility. I would appreciate the chance to talk with you about how we can grow together. If you

have any questions, please call me at 615-***-****.

Thank you for your consideration,

Cordially,

James A. Lackey
